On May 25, Baoji Weibin Court publicly pronounced the verdict on the telecommunications network fraud case involving 17 defendants, including Chen Moumou, Pan Moumou, and Yan Moumou, through a remote video interrogation system.
This case is a typical group crime case that uses online investment and financial management as a means to commit fraud. The criminal group cooperated with illegal platforms. Group members cooperated in groups, pretended to be multiple identities in WeChat groups, and induced victims to cheat on illegal platforms through layer-by-layer layouts. investment, ultimately resulting in losses for many victims. From October 2019 to May 2020, the group defrauded a total of more than 1.88 million yuan, and the victims involved Shaanxi, Sichuan, Chongqing, Jilin, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Hunan, Guangdong, Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang and other provinces.
After the court accepted the case, it overcame the impact of the epidemic and, on the basis of ascertaining the facts of the case, insisted on prompt and severe punishment in accordance with the law, and sentenced the group's leader Chen Moumou and key members Pan Moumou and Yan Moumou to 13 years. to 14 years in prison, and the remaining 14 ordinary members were sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment ranging from three years and two months to eight years and four months, and fined from 35,000 to 140,000 yuan, severely cracking down on the arrogance of criminals. arrogance. At the same time, we paid attention to safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of the victims involved in the case and recovered the stolen money to the maximum extent. We cooperated with relevant departments to recover a total of more than 1.39 million yuan in stolen money, with a loss recovery rate of 73.9%, safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of the people.
This case is the first telecom network fraud case that the Weibin Court has heard since the launch of the "Card Break Operation". The verdict of this case demonstrates the Weibin Court's implementation of the Party Central Committee, superior party committees and courts' regulations on telecom network fraud.
