Iran’s Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics Bureau stated on February 1 that Iran has completed the test launch of a satellite launch vehicle in low-Earth orbit.
According to Al Jazeera 1, a spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Defense and Space Ministry said that "Zoljenah" is Iran's first hybrid-driven satellite launch vehicle launched, which uses a solid fuel engine to achieve Test launch in low Earth orbit.
The spokesperson said that after the test launch is completed, "Zolina" can use the mobile launch pad to put operating satellites into orbit. According to reports, "Zolina" uses solid fuel in the first two stages of launch and liquid fuel in the third stage. It is reported that "Zolina" can send an artificial satellite weighing about 220 kilograms into an orbit 500 kilometers from the earth.
Iran insists that its satellite project, like its nuclear program, can be used in a peaceful manner. But the United States and other Western countries suspect that the project may be used for missile development.
In April 2020, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards successfully launched the country's first military satellite "Nur-1", achieving a leap forward in the strategic intelligence capabilities of the Revolutionary Guards. At the same time, because the launch vehicle is technically similar to the ballistic missile , the United States and other countries have repeatedly condemned Iran's use of "ballistic missile technology," but Iran has stated that its actions do not violate international resolutions.
