On the afternoon of January 17, 2018, the Zhenjiang Tobacco Monopoly Bureau of Jiangsu Province and the Zhenjiang Public Security Bureau destroyed 2,333 fake Zhonghua cigarettes at the Zhenjiang Branch of Everbright Environmental Protection Energy in Zhenjiang Dagang Chemical Industry Park.
This batch of counterfeit cigarettes, worth more than one million yuan, was seized by the Zhenjiang police during the winter operation. In addition, some were seized from two logistics cases by the Tobacco Monopoly Bureau.
At the destruction site, someone opened a pack of soft Chinese cigarettes, put it under his nose and smelled it. It felt that it was not much different from regular Chinese cigarettes. Faced with this question, professionals from the Tobacco Monopoly Bureau told reporters that these fake cigarettes use special flavors, so they smell like tobacco. The person in charge of
said that all these fake cigarettes were burned in garbage incinerators to generate electricity. Based on the calculation that one ton of domestic waste can generate about 500 degrees of electricity after burning, the weight of this batch of fake cigarettes is about 1.2 tons.
Considering that the calorific value of cigarettes is higher than that of domestic garbage, these fake cigarettes can be converted into electricity of about 600 kilowatt-hours after burning, which can be used by a family for about a year.
