According to Mirror Weekly, the Bamboo Branch Management Bureau selected 270,000 square meters of land in Baoshan Township, Hsinchu County. The Zheng family cemetery covers an area of 4,000 square meters. The descendants of the Zheng family are willing to reduce the cemetery area to more than 300 square meters and hope to retain it. However, the Zhuke Administration Bureau believes that the Zheng family cemetery is located in the middle of the planned factory area and must be completely relocated. The descendants of the Zheng family criticized Zhuke for shooting arrows first and then painting targets.
Unexpectedly, the conflict between the two parties intensified because of a move by TSMC. In April and May this year, TSMC sent personnel to the cemetery to explore for groundwater and nailed iron bars and marked marks at at least three locations. Family members believed that this move It has ruined the feng shui of the cemetery and is quite dissatisfying.
In this regard, TSMC explained that the drilling company it entrusted was conducting relevant operations on the land of the Zhuke Management Bureau, and the location was outside the Longbai District of the cemetery. It had obtained the consent of the Zheng family in advance, but later received a notice. Some family members had suspended the construction if they disagreed. Zhuke subsequently communicated with the Zheng family, and the other party agreed again that drilling outside Longbai District could be carried out, but no further work was carried out subsequently.
In fact, as early as early April, TSMC’s Zhuke Baoshan Phase II 2-nanometer wafer fab Fab 20 construction plan had been officially launched. Wang Yongzhuang, director of the Zhuke Administration Bureau, also stated that part of the land had been leased to TSMC , TSMC will be able to start land preparation operations, and it is estimated that all land will be obtained by June at the latest.
Baoshan is also an important town for TSMC to develop 2nm in the future. It was previously reported that four wafer factories will be built. It is expected to enter risky trial production in the second half of 2024 and enter mass production in 2025. Not only that, 2nm is also an important area for TSMC to develop.
