The A321XLR also received a lot of orders in October, which consolidated the market positioning of the A321XLR. The A321XLR order customers in October include: Malaysia AirAsia X 30 aircraft, Hungary Wizz Air 20 aircraft, Chilean JetSMART 12 aircraft and unidentified 2 racks for customers. Another unidentified customer ordered 13 A321XLRs, including 12 A330-900 wide-body aircraft.
China Airlines confirmed a contract for 11 A321neos this month, Taiwan's Tigerair also ordered seven A320neos, and US lessor Aviation Capital Group confirmed a deal for three A320neos. Overall, the A320neo family has reached a new milestone, with more than 7,000 orders now from 113 customers, with more than 6,000 aircraft still waiting to be delivered.
The latest member of Airbus’ single-aisle product line, the A220, also secured new deals in October. Austral Air, the airline of French Reunion Island , signed a firm order for three A220s, becoming the first A220 customer in the Indian Ocean region. Air Tanzania, the original African operator of the A220, has added an order for two aircraft to expand its A220-300 fleet.
In October, Airbus delivered a total of 77 aircraft to 45 customers, of which a total of 59 aircraft of the A320 series aircraft (56 NEO and 3 CEO) were delivered. Since the A320neo series entered service in 2016, Airbus will officially deliver the 1,000th A320neo series to IndiGo in October this year, which is a milestone event.
Among other important deliveries in October was the first A321neo for Taiwan’s StarLux Airline (through lessor GECAS).
Aircraft deliveries in October include four A220s, as well as 14 Airbus wide-body aircraft: eight A350-900 and six A330 (four NEO and two CEO).
In the first 10 months of 2019, Airbus delivered a total of 648 aircraft to 92 customers, compared with 584 aircraft in the same period in 2018, equivalent to an increase of 64 aircraft.
Taking into account the latest orders and deliveries, Airbus's backlog as of October 31 was 7,471 aircraft, including 6,107 A320 family, 436 A220 family, 593 A350 XWB, 284 A330 and 51 A380.
