(1949-1955, reign name Bao Dai). Emperor Bao Dai was born on October 22, 1913. On May 15, 1922, the 9-year-old Prince Nguyen Phuc Vinh Thuy was named the Crown Prince of the Eastern Palace. He was then sent to France to receive education at the Condorcet School in Paris and Sciences Po in Paris.

On January 8, 1926, 12-year-old Nguyen Phuc Ho ascended the throne in the Forbidden City of Hue and became King Annan, with the reign name "Bao Dai". He then returned to France to continue his studies and appointed a Catholic, Nguyen Hu Bai, to head the court in Hue. At that time, the Annan government was dominated by the French colonial regime and was part of French Indochina. Therefore, Baoda has long been used as a symbol of the French colonial regime. In August 1945, Japan surrendered to the Allies. On August 23, Ho Chi Minh 's provisional revolutionary government sent a message to Hue, asking Bao Dai to abdicate. The Japanese ambassador Hengshan suggested that Bao Dai use Japanese military power to easily annihilate the Viet Minh. However, Bao Dai was unwilling to use external forces to massacre the Vietnamese and rejected Hengshan's suggestion. On August 25, he issued an edict announcing his abdication. On August 30, Bao Dai held an abdication ceremony in front of the Meridian Gate of the Hue Palace. On March 16, 1946, Bao Dai chose to leave Vietnam voluntarily and went to live in exile at his residence in Repulse Bay, Hong Kong. On July 30, 1997, Baoda died at the Valley of Grace Military Hospital in Paris, France, and was buried in Passy Cemetery. There is no temple name, posthumous name, or mausoleum name.
