The eight participating teams are from Japan. Men's Basketball Professional League (B League), Korean Men's Basketball Professional League (KBL), Philippine Men's Basketball Professional League (PBA), Chinese Taipei Men's Basketball Professional League (P. LEAGUE+) and the top clubs in Hong Kong SAR, China. Players from the Hong Kong SAR club will come from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taipei.

Eastern Super League, founded in 2016, the mission of the East Asian Super League is to create Asia's top basketball league and improve the sports level in the region; this time it signed a 10-year cooperation agreement with FIBA and the Asian Basketball Federation. The first basketball club league covering East Asia will be established to compete for the title of the best basketball club in East Asia and a championship bonus of up to US$1 million.

Among them, the newly established Bay Area Jinyu Phoenix Club will represent Greater China in the Eastern Super League. In addition to signing top free agents from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taipei, this team will also be coached by a star coach with decades of basketball coaching experience and managed by Mr. Liu Quansheng, a former CBA club general managers, head coaches and players.

The 8 teams participating in this event will be divided into 2 groups, with 4 teams in each group, and will compete in the group stage in the form of a round robin. From October 2022 to February 2023, each team will play home and away games with the other three teams in the same group. Each group will have a total of 6 rounds, with a total of 24 group stage games. There will be 2 games every Wednesday night. The top two teams in each group will advance to the semi-finals and finally qualify for the semi-finals and championship game in March 2023. In addition, in the third season of the Eastern Super League, the number of participating teams will increase to 16, and it may expand to more regions and other professional basketball leagues in the future.
