1. Midsole structure

As shown in the official picture, AJ28 has 4 special-shaped carbon plates. , 2 pieces are on the inside and outside of the heel, 1 large piece is on the arch, and 1 small piece is on the side claw. The forefoot and heel have large, ultra-thick zoom air cushions. There is a full-length flightplate plastic plate above the air cushions, and the midsole EVA and crystal outsole are ignored. Just look at the sole configuration of this shoe, isn’t it luxurious? The sales price of the shoes launched in 2013 reached a record high of 2049. Nowadays, there are very few sneakers with this price, and the cost can be imagined.

While everyone is marveling at the quantity, area, and price of carbon plates, let’s analyze the first question.

Question 1: The arches of the feet are all made of carbon plates, so where did the midsole material go? Doesn’t the special-shaped carbon plate hurt the arch of the foot?

Answer: Tinker’s approach is to add a flightplate plastic plate between the insole and the arch carbon plate. The official claim is that it evenly distributes the pressure exerted by the foot on the air cushion to make the force more even. However, this plate has been criticized. Many people think that the air cushion of AJ28 is damaged by it. Putting this aside and returning to the analysis of the arch of our badminton shoes, this plate avoids the discomfort caused by direct contact with the special-shaped carbon plate on the arch of the foot, at least it will not hurt the foot. .

then answered, is it okay if the arch of the foot does not have midsole material? I want to say why not. For a good pair of shoes, the most important thing about the arch of the foot is torsion resistance and support. It should be kept upright so that your midfoot position does not move at all. Since it does not move at all, what is the use of the midsole material? In fact, the purpose of having midsole materials is to ensure the comfort of the arch position, but not to be too hard or too abrupt, causing irritation or discomfort.

Question 2: Is it necessary to exaggerate the arch of the foot so that the front and rear palms are completely separated?

answer: Very necessary (for most golfers who do not have flat feet)! ! ! Although no pair of badminton shoes in the past looks so exaggerated, this is just a look! If you think about it carefully, the arch position of many classic sneakers only seems to be connected, but in fact it has more filling functions as described in the question. To answer this question, you can go directly to the test results of Nike basketball laboratory.

The popular English meaning of Tuli is: Experimental data shows that by splitting the forefoot and heel, the sole can be made more like a real foot. Combined with the previous and subsequent texts (you can check it out for yourself if it is public), the practical significance of this conclusion is: the functional division of the front and rear palms, the middle cutoff, and the elevation of the arch position can make the shoes fit on your feet like a pair of "enhanced feet" , is used to improve the performance of your feet, not just as an auxiliary function! This is actually easy for badminton fans to understand. 1. In almost all classic badminton shoes, the arch of the foot is basically lifted off the ground and upwards, but some midsole materials are still retained to ensure comfort and shock absorption. There is no badminton brand nonsense. What role does the EVA material in the midsole at this position have in front-to-back force transmission? The force transmission is all the work of the carbon plate, and TPU is useless. This is physical evidence; 2. Everyone’s own arches are so upward, causing the soles of the feet to , obvious distinction between the heel and the heel. This is the result of evolution as a standing walking animal. 2. Midsole material

After analyzing the structural doubts, let’s look at the midsole material. Very simple, AJ28 is just two Zoom air cushions on the front and rear palms plus two pieces of EVA material with filling and edges. Needless to say, EVA can be improved into more advanced materials. The biggest question everyone has is which cushioning material to choose.

Question 3: Is the cushioning material better, zoom air cushion, or new materials such as beng ( Li Ning ), boost (Adidas), zoomx (Nike) and other new materials?

answer: Objective data can best explain the problem. The ball rebound test data of Geek Shoes Talk shows that the zoom air cushion has the highest rebound height, which is still higher than boost, the latest beng, and zoomx. (A misunderstanding needs to be corrected at this time. The zoom air cushion is not the transparent air cushion that you usually see in Nike stores, but an impact air cushion filled with fiber silk and usually built into the midsole of a shoe. It focuses more on rebound than on Cushioning. As for why the rebound ability of the zoom air cushion is better than these new materials, my personal analysis will not be put here until the 100th floor. But the rebound performance is good, it does not mean It is suitable for badminton.The working principle of the zoom air cushion, especially the thickened version of the zoom air cushion, makes the total time from stepping on it to rebounding back longer. It does not matter for sports such as basketball where the lower limbs are mainly running, supplemented by disguised or emergency stops. , but this time difference cannot be ignored for badminton, a sport that is mainly about disguise and quick start. This is the so-called sense of the field, the sense of touching the ground, or the sense of directness (many people do not wear thick-soled shoes when competing. One is lifting High center of gravity is prone to problems, and the second is the time difference problem); another important reason is that although the zoom air cushion feels "strong rebound", it does not allow you to jump higher. The zoom air cushion can only hold a weight of 150 grams. I estimate it (the specific weight geeks did not tell me. ), a ball of about 5 cm more bounce than other materials. If you weigh 60 kilograms (400 times the weight of the ball), if you calculate it, you can be bounced 5 cm/400 = 0.0125 cm more. In fact, it can't. This is exactly the calculation, but the order of magnitude is basically the same. Otherwise, wouldn’t all high jumpers wear zoom air cushions? But why do they still wear spikes?)

So for the cushioning material of badminton shoes, the author still recommends solid materials like ben. Compared with traditional EVA, it is lighter, softer and more elastic. The only disadvantage may be that it is too soft and will lose some stability when used with the whole palm. However, this can be compensated by limiting deformation through the outer edges. Many top basketball shoes have already done this. It does work, like this. Since the forefoot of badminton shoes is already very thin, at most it needs to be wrapped around the heel. 3. Vamp

Take the internal anatomy of the AJ28's upper by "Kuaizhuan Sports" as an example.

Question 4: Why is there a drawstring added to each shoelace hole? Isn't it good to just pull the upper?

Answer: Adding a drawstring can make the package more perfect and give you a fuller wrapping feeling (note that this independent drawstring is only an auxiliary function, the shoelaces actually pass through the shoelace holes of the upper, not just the drawstring) ). This does not require experimental data, just go directly to Nike’s promotional copy for drawstrings.

Pay attention to the golden line in the picture, which runs from the instep to the sole of the foot. To be honest, isn't this the reinforcement operation of towel socks on the arch of the foot? This is the case for high-end football socks. But it is difficult to achieve with sneakers. After all, there must be an insole between the drawstring on the sole of the foot and the foot! How can the drawstring move the arch of the insole, especially when some insoles are stiff with TPU anti-torsion plates. Therefore, AJ28 only extends the drawstring from the shoelace hole to the side of the midsole. The wrapping feeling at the arch position is still provided by the joint support of the insole, midsole, and carbon plate. The arch support provides a package, which is very similar to the recognized classic 01ltd of badminton shoes. 01 has passed away for so long, and what everyone misses most is the excellent package that can be played without tying shoelaces! The soles and uppers feel like they are attached to your feet, and tightening the laces is just for added strength!

Compared with the ultra-light generation, the midsole material of 01 is obviously turned up and reinforced at the arch position. , combined with the excellent mid-foot shoe last , as well as the carbon plate and TPU with a suitable high support height, ultimately help golfers obtain a rare sense of support and wrapping at the arch of the foot.In recent years, the arch position of most sneakers is extremely flat like the ultra-light generation. There is no upturned midsole material for reinforcement, and only the insole is used for reinforcement. This is because most sneakers have support and anti-torsion in the arch position. At the same time, high-top heroes and many new Li-Ning shoes have used drawstring technology, but the effect is not satisfactory. The first reason is that some models only pull the string and do not pull the upper at all; the second is the width of the shoes mentioned in my second article. So to summarize the answer to question 4: adding independent drawstrings can easily make all shoes have a stronger sense of wrapping, as long as your design is not too unfriendly! Question 5: What are those blue sponge inner boots for? Is it necessary?

answer: It is more important than the drawstring. To use the drawstring, you must use inner boots (or through the lining material). Because the drawstring must be outside the lining material, otherwise it would be meaningless and uncomfortable to tie a rope directly to the feet. The drawstring itself is still to compress the inner boot, and the inner boot avoids the discomfort caused by the drawstring.

This can still be proved by examples. The lining materials of badminton shoes with strong forefoot wrapping and high comfort, such as 01ltd, sc6, cft, 8510, etc., are generally moderate and thick. Although they do not have inner boots, they have similar functions; after Traveler 2 and Honor, many Li Ning models have directly added The inner boots are not as good as these two models. It’s not that the new inner boots are bad, it’s mainly due to the flaw in the shoe last. At present, Li Ning's inner boots mainly only cover the forefoot. It would be better if it could be further extended to the arch position like AJ28 and add a drawstring to achieve full coverage. (The author doesn't care about breathability. For those who do, the breathability of the soles and toes of the feet is more important than the instep. Question 7: Woven upper or traditional leather?

answer: At present, the leather side is still stronger, but I think the woven side with TPU or patch reinforcement on the side is better. The comfort is definitely better with the woven surface. Senior golfers are mainly worried that the strength is not as good as traditional leather. In fact, the latest reinforced woven surfaces of various brands are not bad, and the breathability is much better than leather. Technology is still developing, and reinforcements also need to be adjusted. Give the brand some room for error. If it remains unchanged for ten thousand years, it will be a regression!

Question 8: Which outsole material to choose?

Answer: The author said in the second article that the performance of Li Ning CP solid-color outsole basically surpasses that of traditional rubber. Although the wear resistance is not excellent, it is not bad. The author does not care about wear resistance, as long as it is elastic, non-slip, bending, etc. Just wait until it gets better. The crystal bottom has no performance breakthrough except for its good looks. I haven’t tested the Halberd’s bottom yet, so I can’t comment. There are still problems with the adjustment of Shengli's solid-color rubber. It is either soft but has poor wear resistance, such as 8510 and a960, or it has better wear resistance but is harder, such as 9200. Wear resistance has a lot to do with floor glue. What the author is talking about is just a common phenomenon, so if the wear resistance is not particularly bad, it’s ok for me.

Question 9: Which wear-resistant material should be chosen for the inner side of the shoe upper?

Answer: The author believes that the inner materials of 01ltd, 9200, Traveler 2, etc. are the most wear-resistant. Each brand has a different name, but the material feels basically the same.Nowadays, many shoes use heat-sealing patches on the inside. Countless actual battles have proven that this technology fools children!
