The Volkswagen ID R all-electric concept car has set several new records at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb , and is preparing to take on the Nurburgring electric car after completing some upgrades fastest record.

Volkswagen Motorsport Director Sven Smeet commented on the new goal: "After breaking the record at Pikes Peak, the fastest electric car on the Nurburgring Nordschleife is the ID R electric concept race car The next challenge for the Nürburgring, both racing and production cars, is an honor."
The bespoke all-electric race car weighs under 2,500 pounds and features two electric motors , has 680 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque, 0-60 mph in just 2.25 seconds, and a 43-kilowatt-hour battery pack.
The Volkswagen Group says it is now modifying the car for better performance on the Nürnberg track, which differs a lot from the climbs that the ID R used to finish.
Facncois Xavier Demaison, Volkswagen's sports technology director, said: "We will adjust the aerodynamic shape of the ID R to better cope with the conditions of the Nürnberg track."
The existing Nurburgring track The fastest record is Peter Dumbrek's 6:45.90 lap with a NIO EP9. Romain Dumas will be driving the ID R to challenge the record.
