has always had a question: Can electric water heaters take a shower while heating them? Later, when I was installing the water heater, I asked the workers and it was considered to have solved my problem.
The original words of the worker are: Of course you can plug in and wash it! And he also gave me an example - now many electric water heaters have the main function of plug-in and electric washing.
First of all, we need to understand why we need to plug in and take a bath, just to save trouble? No, but for expansion. What should I do if the 60L electric water heater is not enough?
two methods can double the capacity. The first is plug-in and wash. Continue heating while using water. Although the heating speed cannot be fully met with the heating speed like the instant water heater , it can increase the amount of hot water by at least 50%. Many electric water heaters now increase power, increase the number of heating rods, and improve the shape of heating rods. The purpose is to increase the heating speed and achieve plug-in washing and expansion.
The second method of expansion is to increase the water temperature, so that more cold water can be mixed in while taking a bath to get more warm water. In the past, the maximum temperature that electric water heaters could set was 65℃, but now many products can set it to 75℃, which is the purpose.
Of course, plug-in washing is beneficial, but it cannot be performed blindly. If you want to take a continuous electric bath, you must ensure that the following four prerequisites are met.
[Condition 1] Qualified products
First of all, your electric water heater must meet the requirements of plug-in and electric washing, that is, at least one leakage-proof device is installed inside. Some electric water heaters directly mark the plug or bucket with "Power must be cut off before taking a bath". This kind of water heater cannot be plugged in and washed.
Secondly, the purchasing channels for electric water heaters must be formal to ensure that you buy genuine and qualified products. Some miscellaneous brands, small brands, private label products, and even counterfeit and shoddy products cannot be plugged in and taken to the bath.
Finally, the service life of the electric water heater is only about 5 years. The electric water heater used overdue is at risk of leakage and cannot be plugged in and bathed. Moreover, after the electric water heater fails, it may also cause leakage, and it cannot be plugged in and washed before repair.
[Condition 2] Correct wiring
The wires and sockets in the home must meet the requirements of the electric water heater to avoid wire leakage. There are three requirements for wiring:
1. Wires must be selected for copper wires above 6mm²;
2. Sockets must be selected for 16A three-hole sockets. Some users install them incorrectly and install them into 10A three-hole sockets, which is not possible. What's worse, I found that the water heater plug could not be inserted, so I changed a small plug for the electric water heater by myself, which was even more undesirable.
3. A waterproof box must be installed on the socket and cannot be blocked by an electric water heater. It is necessary to ensure that the plug can be unplugged at any time and quickly.
[Condition 3] Proper grounding of
The socket used for electric water heater must be connected to ground wire , and the ground wire must be properly grounded. There were no requirements a few years ago. Now, electric water heaters will be inspected for users before installation. Without a properly grounded socket, water heaters are not allowed to be installed.
The function of the ground wire: When an electric water heater leaks, the leakage current will first flow through the ground wire to the ground, thereby avoiding leakage current passing through the human body. Without electric current, the human body will not be electrocuted.
If you are worried, you can buy an phase meter by yourself. Plug it into the socket to show whether the socket's wiring is normal.
[Condition 4] Leakage switch
Open the distribution box. In addition to the main switch on the left, there is also a switch. After closing, the electric water heater socket will be powered off. Check this switch to see if there is no leakage protection function.
If you don't bring it, it is recommended to change one as soon as possible. If you have it, press the "T" button on the switch to test whether the leakage function is normal. If the switch trips after pressing, it proves that it is normal; otherwise, it is abnormal. The function of the
leakage switch is to cut off the power supply as soon as possible after the leakage current occurs. The leakage switch and the ground wire complement each other, make up for each other's shortcomings, and jointly protect our electricity safety.
Now there are leakage sockets and leakage plugs. The principles are the same as leakage switches, and you can choose them yourself. However, whether the leakage socket or leakage plug is installed, a leakage switch must be installed. The latter has stronger stability and a wider protection range, which cannot be compared between the first two.
