So, as an minimalist person, how do I stock up on it?
During the stocking process, I did it in the following way - out one in one, and determined the stocking volume according to the time node .
After starting a minimalist life, I developed a new life habit, which is to make a simple file for items in my life. To put it bluntly, it is to record the purchase time, frequency of use, time of use and other information on the notebook, so that I can roughly summarize my needs for each type of items.
To give the simplest example, I started using a bottle of 200ml toner on April 5, 2022, basically once a day. This bottle of toner was used on August 13, 2022. In this way, I can know: I use a bottle of 200 ml toner every four months, and I know what quantity and frequency to choose when placing an order. Because I buy my skin care products at big promotions every year, when I buy them on Double 11, I will choose to place an order for a bottle of toner, plus the medium and small samples I gave during shopping, so I can place an order until 618 in the next year.
The same is true for stocking other items. Below I will introduce the stocking situation of various items in categories.
The first is rice, flour, grain, oil and other foods :
m flour, grain, oil and other foods that can last longer. I generally guarantee that I have a quarterly dosage at home, and only when I am about to finish eating will I buy the next quarter’s amount.
like fungus , bean peel, dried mushrooms and other foods. I have a freshener box for these foods at home. Every time I wait until the food in the freshener box is almost the end before buying it. Because these foods are not eaten so frequently, I did not put them in the corner, but kept them in the refrigerator.
I don’t buy too many fresh vegetables and fruits every time I buy them. Keep them for about three days according to the consumption of my family to prevent them from rotting because they are not too late to be eaten.
As for some vegetarian and meat frozen in the refrigerator, I haven't found a particularly good rhythm to grasp them. All I can do is to write down the names and purchase dates of different frozen foods in the notebook, and try to buy them and eat them within a month.
The second is toiletries :
I feel that toiletries are a category that is particularly easy to stock up. It is easy to buy excessive toiletries when watching live broadcasts or visiting supermarkets. I feel that they can always use them. The price they saw was more appropriate at the time, so I saved a lot.
Most of my toiletries are stocked according to the usage of a quarter. If the time is not up, I will not buy it no matter how cheap it is.
Perhaps it is extremely simple to the later stage, and I will think about life and environmental protection issues. My current toiletries are relatively simple. I usually stock up on two kilograms of Wuwanzi every time, three pieces of cold soap . This is my usage in one quarter.
I gradually gave up on some items that use plastic packaging, such as plastic bottled laundry detergent, plastic bottled hand sanitizer, softener , conditioner , etc.
The third is sanitary products :
I usually only allow the home to use it for one quarter. Because I am gradually replacing the paper with cotton and linen handkerchiefs, my paper usage is relatively small.
As for other sanitary products, I also prepare a quarterly quantity according to the daily use of my home. If I don’t have time, I will not buy it again. I won't give examples of the rest of
, but in general, my stocking situation is that most items are only stocked at home for one quarter of use, and I will continue to buy new ones only when it's time to replace them. I won't buy them if I don't have time.
As for the question of whether many people are worried about whether they will use up in advance, this situation has never happened to me; some people are worried about what to do when the guests come. I prepared a set of items specially for the guests, but because my family rarely comes to guests, he still stores them in the cabinet at my house.
In my opinion, minimalism does not mean how many items in life should be maintained, but rather that it means reducing the interference of external voices on one's own life, getting rid of excessive dependence on items, so that items can really serve life, rather than saying that life revolves around items.
So stocking up properly is really helpful for our lives to maintain a stable pace.
My stocking principle is basically to go in and not blindly buy large quantities of items that you have not used before.
As a minimalist, I am using fewer and fewer items now. Take the toiletries from the past for example. I really have a cabinet, but now I use very few categories. And I try to choose to use toiletries that do not cause too much burden to the environment. I also summarized some more useful methods, such as boiling water with orange peels to clean dust.
Although I am stocking up now, there are not many items around me, at least there are much fewer than a year and a half ago.
Because I slowly consumed my stockpiling, and before those items were consumed, I had never purchased similar items, so although I stocked up, all the items now maintain a full inventory of one use cycle.
can not only deal with some sudden situations, but will not cause waste, nor will it cost you a lot of time to store and organize.
In general, building a file for your own daily necessities is really a very good helper for stocking up, which will keep your life a sense of rhythm.
