What happens if a woman and a group of men are stuck on a small island? This is a question that many sociologists are keen to discuss. They want to know which of human nature, hunger, and sexual impulse will prevail in desperate situations. Different people will make different choices, and desperate situations may also bring the most human Ugly inspired. Of course, no one dared to do this kind of humanity experiment, but an accident gave sociologists the answer.
This accidental humanity experiment is called the Anatahan Island Incident. The heroine of the story is Higa Kazuko. Anatahan Island is a volcanic island in the Mariana Islands, uninhabited all year round. After the outbreak of the Pacific War, Japanese companies planted coconut groves here, so they sent a couple and an assistant to manage them. The couple was Higa Kazuko and his husband Higa Masaichi. There are also several indigenous people who accept their management.
A few years later, Japan lost ground in the Pacific, the islands under its control fell one after another, and the Japanese nationals on the islands also returned to their homeland. In order to save his sister, Masaichi Higa never returned. Only Kazuko Higa, his assistant Kikuichiro, and a few natives remained on the island.
Soon after, 31 men floated on the island, of which 10 were Japanese soldiers, and the remaining 21 were civilians and crew members. They originally planned to return to China in a fishing boat, but they were caught by the US military on the way. The warship sank and all the people in the ship died. Only they were lucky enough to float on this small island.
After being out of danger, these 31 men settled on the island. In the beginning, Higa and Kazko had nothing to do with them, but for safety reasons, she and Kikuichiro moved to a place far away. The island is isolated from the outside world, and the two have a long-term relationship in their lives, so they married. Several indigenous people took advantage of their lack of preparation and built a bamboo raft to escape. Only Higa and his wife and 31 men remained on the island.
Where there are people, there will be a society, which is linked with production relations and economic activities, which inevitably leads to class differentiation and interest disputes. A woman and 32 men were divided into several large and small gangs and lived their lives separately. When an overly powerful force appeared, this small society would have rulers.
The appearance of a pistol broke the balance on the island. A small group picked up a pistol and some bullets on a crashed plane, and naturally became the ruler of the island. They can reasonably enjoy all the resources on the island, including the only sexual resource Higa Kazuko, even if she has made it public. Held a wedding with Kikuichiro.
Soon after, a murder occurred on the island, and the deceased was Higa Kazuko’s husband, Kikuichiro. As if opening the Pandora's Box, life cases occurred one after another on the island, and the dead were all greedy people in Bijiahezi. Until later, the gunman also inexplicably drowned, and a new ruler emerged on the island.
Obviously, the shortage of production and living resources and the emergence of handguns that represent power have inspired the evil side of human nature. The history we know is staged on this small island, fighting for power, killing, and exploitation , Oppression, resistance... It seems to be a miniature history of dynasty change.
In this way, the men on the island died one after another. The survivors believed that the culprit was Higa and the pistol. For peace on the island, we should kill this woman and destroy the pistol.
This scene is like the revolution that broke out after the development of a royal society to the extreme.
Fortunately, Higa Kazuko escaped after a good-hearted report, boarded an American merchant ship on the island, and finally returned to the mainland. The year was 1950, and a year later, the remaining 19 men on the island were also rescued. Kazuko Higa explained her experience and aroused strong public interest. Based on her legendary experience, the film company compiled this bizarre story into the movie "Anatahan Island", starred by Higa Kazuko himself. The movie was a big success, and Higa and Koko also started her second life. She spent 22 years of affluent life without worrying about food and clothing, and died at the age of 49.
