More than 6,000 people, including railway workers, family members of the "February 7th" tragedy, and people's representatives from all walks of life in Wuhan, attended the public trial. On February 7, more than 3,000 workers demanded that Zhao Jixian release the arrested workers. Zhao Jixian ordered his subordinates to shoot, killing three workers, seriously injuring two others, and injuring more than 30 people.

Zhao Jixian also tortured and interrogated the arrested workers. The arrested worker Wu Jane and three others died tragically in prison.

After liberation, Zhao Jixian knew that his crime was extremely heinous and was afraid of being judged and sanctioned by the people, so he changed his name and moved to Tibet.
