Liu Bang raised his troops

In the last years of the Qin Dynasty , the people rebelled one after another because they could not stand the tyranny of the Qin Dynasty. For a time, many rebels appeared in various places. Some of the leaders of these rebel armies were nobles from the previous six countries, and some were ordinary civilians. In short, there were all kinds of people. Among them, a "market scoundrel" named Liu also took the opportunity to raise troops in Peixian County (today's Peixian County, Jiangsu Province). He was the later Emperor Gaozu of the Han Dynasty Liu Bang.

When he was a child, Liu Bang was very lazy and did not want to work in the fields with his parents and brothers. He often said that he had great ambitions and could not do the menial work that supported his family. However, Liu Bang also has advantages. Even though he is a scoundrel, he is very kind to others and is not rigid or harsh in what he does. Although his family doesn't have much money, he likes to give away money, and he is broad-minded and informal in doing things, so he is very popular.

When Liu Bang grew up, he found a job as a pavilion director in Sishui (a river in Peixian County). He had nothing to do on weekdays. There was a Shan father (now in the south of Shan County, Shandong Province) named Lu Gong, who was very good at telling people's faces. After he met Liu Bang, he felt that this man looked so strange and would definitely become rich and powerful in the future, so he married his daughter to him.

Once, Liu Bang, who was the chief of the pavilion, escorted some prisoners from Peixian County to Lishan (today's Southeast Lishan Mountain, Lintong County, Shaanxi Province) according to the instructions of his superiors. Unexpectedly, many prisoners escaped halfway. Liu Bang thought to himself: "What should we do? There have been so many people running away. I'm afraid there won't be many left after arriving at Lishan Mountain. Alas! We are all going to die anyway, so we might as well have a good time before we die!"

In this way, Liu Bang led the remaining prisoners to a pavilion in a swamp to the west of Fengdi (now the west bank of Fengshui, Shaanxi) and stopped to drink. He drank this wine until night. The more Liu Bang drank, the angrier he became. The more he drank, the more frustrated he became. He thought to himself: What kind of world is this! I took people to Lishan Mountain, but they all left before they arrived. In this case, even if I hand in the errand, I'm afraid my life won't be saved, so I might as well just be a favor.

Thinking of this, Liu Bang released all the remaining prisoners and said to them: "Let's go quickly, you all go! Don't go to Lishan to die, and escape with your own lives! After you leave, I will also start a life of escape."

The prisoners were very surprised when they heard this, and some of them ran away without thinking. However, among these prisoners, there were also a dozen young and strong young men who were unwilling to leave Liu Bang alone and vowed to follow him. Liu Bang nodded and said, "Good brother, we will share joys and sorrows from now on! It's getting late now, so run for your life!"

Liu Bang wanted to cross the swamp at night with the help of alcohol. Suddenly, several people in front ran back in panic, saying that there was a big snake blocking the middle of the road. Liu Bang said angrily: "You still call yourself a hero. A man is not even afraid of death. How can he be afraid of a snake?" After saying that, he chopped the snake to death with his sword and continued on his way with his men.

Therefore, Liu Bang led his men to hide in Mangdang Mountain and revolt secretly, and his team gradually grew.

Later, Chen Sheng Wu Guang revolted in Daze Township. Many places in the country wanted to submit to him. The magistrate of Peixian County also wanted to use Peixian County as a base to respond to Chen Sheng. The county magistrate Xiao He and the official Cao Shen of Peixian County said to the county magistrate: "This matter should be discussed in the long term. As an official of the Qin State , now you want to lead the people to betray the Qin Dynasty. I am afraid that the reason is untenable and you will not get people's response!"

The county magistrate nodded and said: "What you two said makes sense, then you can come up with an idea!"

Xiao He and Cao Shen then said, "How about this? We estimate that we can get at least a few hundred people by recruiting those who are fleeing abroad! Then, use these people to coerce the people of Peixian County and ask them to rebel with you. Then they will not dare to disobey you!"

The county magistrate said: "Okay! Just follow your ideas."Then, the county magistrate called Fan Kuai and asked him to find Liu Bang.

Soon, Liu Bang came to Peixian County. At this time, Liu Bang was no longer the "poor person" he had been before, and he already had hundreds of people under his command. When the county magistrate saw that all of Liu Bang's men looked fierce, he was afraid that he would kill him, so he closed the city gate and wanted to kill Xiao He and Cao Shen. . Xiao He and Cao Shen were very frightened when they found out, so they jumped out of the city wall that night and defected to Liu Bang. Liu Bang accepted the advice of Xiao He and Cao Shen, wrote a letter to the people of Pei County, and then shot it into the city. The letter stated various interests. In the end, the people of Pei County killed the county magistrate together, welcomed Liu Bang into the city, and made him Peigong . In this way, Liu Bang officially launched an uprising in Pei County, and his troops grew to more than 3,000 people.
