Eighty-six years ago, the famous Xi'an Incident in China and abroad suddenly broke out. Similarly, this is also a historical event of special significance in modern Chinese history.
Premier Zhou's assassination
In the Xi'an Incident, there were many relationships involved. The thief-hearted Chiang Kai-shek has always wanted to make a comeback, so it keeps causing trouble. In the end, the Xi'an Incident can be resolved peacefully, which is inseparable from Premier Zhou's mediation.
So at that time, Chiang Kai-shek secretly sent someone to ambush on Premier Zhou's way to Xi'an, trying to assassinate Premier Zhou to vent his anger. Fortunately, Chen Youcai, who was accompanying Premier Zhou at that time, put on Premier Zhou's clothes, attracting the enemy's firepower, which allowed Premier Zhou to escape.
The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China started from national justice and in order to achieve the goal of national resistance to Japan, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China proposed to peacefully resolve the Xi'an Incident.
At the meeting of senior leaders of the CPC Central Committee, our party formulated a series of policies and sent Zhou Enlai, who was then the vice chairman of the Military Commission, to go to Xi'an for negotiations. Zhou Enlai led the troops of the CPC delegation to Xi'an immediately from the security guard to go to Xi'an.
On the day when Zhang Xueliang and Yang Hucheng seized Chiang Kai-shek, they sent a message to the people of China, which was about the theme of "Eight Propositions" with the theme of "reorganizing the Nanjing government and stopping all civil wars." The
incident has reached this point, but Zhang and Yang do not know how to continue to implement the cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, so the two are very confused. Some media and local officials are circulating some negative public opinion, saying that they "force the president and go against the will of heaven."
What made the two even more nervous was that on the night of the incident, the Nanjing government held a temporary convening and the Central Committee discussed it. At this meeting, a penalty decision was made to Zhang Xueliang and Yang Hucheng.
They tried to dismantle the military rights of the two, and as the Xi'an Incident was about to enter a chaotic deadlock. In addition to the two sides' opposition between the top leaders of the Kuomintang, the leaders of military regimes in other parts of the Kuomintang also moved closer to Nanjing and ran away from Zhang Xueliang and Yang Hucheng. What unexpectedly surprised the two of them was that they thought the Soviet government would support this behavior, but they were accused of this behavior aimed at helping Japan split China. Zhang Xueliang was so angry that he just wanted to scold people and couldn't hold back his anger.
Zhang Xueliang
On December 25 of the same year, Zhang Xueliang, who was bewitched by Chiang Kai-shek, sent Chiang Kai-shek back to Nanjing without authorization under impulse. The treacherous Chiang Kai-shek immediately changed his face and immediately detained Zhang Xueliang.
This move led to serious differences within Northeast Army . On how to rescue Zhang Xueliang, there were two factions: "main war" and "main harmony".
Yang Hucheng, who was too busy to take care of himself on the other side, was not mentally prepared for Zhang Xueliang's impulsive behavior, but he was still freer than Zhang Xueliang, so he accepted Zhang Xueliang's request to temporarily manage the Northeast Army, but he was not united and it was very difficult to manage.
Yang Hucheng
In January 1937, Zhou Enlai, Ye Jianying and Yang Hucheng jointly discussed a joint operation plan, aiming to prevent some pro-Japanese factions in Nanjing from provoking civil war again.
However, in order to rescue Zhang Xueliang, the young men in the Northeast Army were impulsive and created the "February 2 Incident", killing Wang Yizhe, commander of the 67th Army in the Northeast Army, Xu Fang, Chief of Staff, and Jiang Bin, Chief of Communications. The Northeast Army fell into a state of cannibalism.
The danger was approaching the CCP delegation. Zhou Enlai seized the opportunity and quickly enlightened the young faction of the Northeast Army, emphasizing that the overall situation should be focused now. The Northeast Army, Northwest Army, and Red Army must unite as one to form a "trinity." In this way, the military strength will increase, and the possibility of rescuing Zhang Xueliang will be greater.
Premier Zhou's words are like a midnight light, and everyone understands which direction we should work towards.
After Premier Zhou’s great wisdom and courage, and some persuasion and explanation work, the crisis after the Xi’an Incident was alleviated and the development direction of unity against Japan was continued.
Cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party
After the Xi'an Incident broke out, Zhang Xueliang and Yang Hucheng did not expect that the situation was so serious. Zhang Xueliang and Yang Hucheng were sanctioned by the Standing Committee of the Nanjing Government, and the Northeast Army started fighting among themselves. Seeing that the cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party is about to come to naught.
The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China sent Zhou Enlai to persuade and communicate, aiming to ensure that the Kuomintang and the Communist Party united in the same direction to resist Japan.
Premier Zhou and Chairman Mao
However, on April 25, 1937, when Zhou Enlai represented the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China for the second time, on his way to Xi'an for negotiations, he was deliberately murdered by the Kuomintang reactionaries. In the end, Premier Zhou had a narrow escape. What's going on?
After the Xi'an Incident, all forces in the country were very restless. As we all know, Zhou Enlai's trip was full of dangers, and Chairman Mao also expressed his concerns.
Therefore, in order to ensure Premier Zhou's safety along the way and avoid accidents as much as possible, the party did not leak any news to the outside world, and the number of escort soldiers arranged by the security department reached a platoon.
If the original plan goes ahead, Premier Zhou and other personnel will need to take a total of three trucks to go to Xi'an. However, Premier Zhou was delayed by the emergency . Therefore, the people went in two groups, and some people took two trucks to set off early.
Premier Zhou and the remaining 24 officers and soldiers took a truck and decided to set off on April 25. Among these 24 officers and soldiers, they included Zhang Yunyi, deputy chief of staff of the Red Army headquarters, and staff officer Kong Shiquan, as well as Zhou Enlai's adjutant Chen Youcai and others.
The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China is worried that the number of people in this team is small, and we must be more vigilant about security issues. However, considering that there are military camps stationed on the line from Yan'an to Xi'an, some of whom have united with our party. The Northeast Army and the Northwest Army will also come to assist if there are special circumstances.
html On the morning of the 225th, at nine o'clock in the morning, the truck that Premier Zhou and his party were riding in set off. Premier Zhou was still worried about the negotiations with Xi'an, so he frowned all the way.
Who would have thought that on this journey, there would be an evil conspiracy approaching Premier Zhou.
At this time, more than three hours had passed since the departure. The car drove out of Yan'an and passed Sansanlipu. Going further, Laoshan, which was about to be reached, was an area controlled by the Kuomintang.
Although the altitude of Laoshan Mountain is not high, the terrain is rugged, with many ravines and ravines. In addition, there are some low shrubs. If a war breaks out, it is easy to ambush troops. Such a place has always been an easy-to-defend but difficult-to-attack place for military strategists.
So when passing by here, everyone was very alert. The driver stepped on the accelerator and turned on the full power. In the silent valley, only the roar of the truck was heard.
When the truck drove to a low-lying mountain col, suddenly, I remembered the deafening sound of gunfire. No, there's an ambush! Before everyone had time to judge the enemy's direction clearly, bullets came like a rainstorm in an instant.
Premier Zhou was sitting in the cab. He quickly observed the surrounding terrain and concluded that the enemy was right ahead, which was a dilapidated mountain temple. The gunfire continued.
It was too late and then it was too late. The driver, Lao Li, followed Premier Zhou's command and accelerated across the high ground, taking the opportunity to get out of the ambush. But the enemy's firepower was too strong, and the car's tires were hit. Unfortunately, the driver, Lao Li, died and fell on the steering wheel.
The most dangerous place at this time is undoubtedly inside the car. Zhou Enlai immediately ordered everyone to get out of the car immediately and asked the soldiers to spread out in all directions to find suitable bunkers and prepare to fight back.
Zhang Yunyi
Deputy Chief of Staff Zhang Yunyi ordered Premier Zhou's adjutant Chen Youcai to take several guards to cover Premier Zhou to ensure that Premier Zhou could be transferred safely. And he led the rest of the soldiers to attract enemy firepower and delay the transfer time for Premier Zhou and others.
At this time, the cunning enemy saw our army's plan and immediately increased the firepower. Chen Youcai, who was covering Premier Zhou, was shot in the leg and found it difficult to walk. He continued to command the remaining soldiers to fight and tried his best to cover the retreat of Premier Zhou and others. It is most appropriate to describe the scene at this time with corpses everywhere.
Because Chen Youcai is very similar to Premier Zhou in stature, and he wears a hat and is neatly dressed like Premier Zhou. In addition, he commanded calmly after being injured. The enemy simply thought that he was Premier Zhou.
Chen Youcai died
On April 25, 1935, Premier Zhou rushed to Xi'an for negotiations. After the attack on Laoshan, why did Premier Zhou still feel so sad after many years that Chen Youcai, who was traveling with Premier Zhou, burst into tears every time he thought of Chen Youcai.
When Premier Zhou and his party were attacked in Laoshan, Chen Youcai deliberately made the enemy think that he was Premier Zhou. Therefore, the enemy concentrated their firepower and targeted Chen Youcai.
He stood upright as strong as possible, letting the bullets pass through his body. He was about to end his life, and he only wanted to buy a little more time for Premier Zhou.
Chen Youcai
In the end, the enemy came to Chen Youcai to search on the blood donated by the soldiers, trying to confirm the identity of Premier Zhou.
A man found a business card with "Zhou Enlai" written on it in Chen Youcai's coat pocket, thinking it was Premier Zhou. The enemy pointed a bayonet at Chen Youcai and waved it several times in anger, and Chen Youcai died.
The rest of the soldiers who fought with the enemy also died one after another because of the huge difference in firepower between the two sides.
But their sacrifice was not in vain. Premier Zhou, Zhang Yiyun, Kong Quanshi, and Liu Jiuzhou lived up to expectations and successfully transferred out of the enemy's fire range.
The four of them dragged their exhausted bodies and returned to the checkpoint near Yan'an on foot. After the investigation, they found that of the 25 people in the car, only four of them, Premier Zhou, were alive, and the rest had all died. Premier Zhou was extremely sad.
Although Chen Youcai was only 24 years old when he died, as Premier Zhou's personal bodyguard, he experienced many things with Premier Zhou. He protected Premier Zhou's life in critical moments more than once.
Speaking of the fate between the two, it originated from the "Barber House Air Raid" incident. During the fifth counter-"encirclement and suppression" campaign, wars were frequent and the conditions for the soldiers were also very difficult.
Chen Youcai, who was the commander of the communications company at the time, was called to his side by Premier Zhou and asked him to give him a haircut. After finishing the haircut, Chen Youcai was packing up his haircut tools when he heard the buzzing of a plane from outside, followed by the sound of bombs.
Chen Youcai shouted loudly: "Vice Chairman, please enter the shelter quickly."He wanted to go outside by himself and find another place to hide. Premier Zhou pulled Chen Youcai over and squeezed together into a small shelter. Premier Zhou also used his body to block Chen Youcai.
Chen Youcai looked at the houses being blown up outside and looked at Premier Zhou's tall body with all kinds of feelings in his heart. Premier Zhou smiled and wiped Chen Youcai away. Tears on Youcai's face. Young Chen Youcai thought in his heart that he would follow Premier Zhou to the death.
In February 1936, Chen Youcai led a security company to escort Premier Zhou to the anti-Japanese front line. When passing through Suide , he was ambushed by the enemy. Chen Youcai, who was stunned, suddenly found an enemy hiding behind a stone and trying to shoot Premier Zhou.
Upon seeing this, Chen Youcai immediately jumped forward and caught the enemy with a back throw. When the enemy struggled, he shot Chen Youcai in the leg. Chen Youcai quickly found the opportunity to hit the enemy's fatal point with the gun, saving Premier Zhou.
In December 1936, just after the Xi'an Incident, when Premier Zhou went to Xi'an for the first time to discuss the "United Anti-Japanese Front between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party", Chen Youcai was appointed as Premier Zhou's aide.
Just after they arrived in Xi'an and checked into the pre-arranged location, a sneaky-looking Northeastern Army officer with a gun on his body and a disguise suddenly visited the Prime Minister's residence. Chen Youcai stepped forward to interrogate this person's purpose.
The other party bluntly said that he wanted to find "Mr. Zhou". Chen Youcai thought vigilantly that this person came with bad intentions. He casually lied that Mr. Zhou was not feeling well and had gone to the hospital first. The man was dubious, looked inside, turned around and left.
Later investigation revealed that this person was ordered by a thief to assassinate Premier Zhou. After the split within the Northeastern Army, Premier Zhou also encountered a "military remonstrance."
A few stupid young officers suddenly broke into Premier Zhou's office. Fortunately, Chen Youcai entered first and gave a serious warning. After Zhou Enlai told them about the importance of resisting Japan and saving the nation, he left in shame.
Premier Zhou and Chen Youcai have experienced critical incidents together, and their relationship is very deep.
When Premier Zhou was old, he would often think of Chen Youcai. He still kept a photo with Chen Youcai. Behind the photo, it read, "Laoshan was in danger, only four people survived." ”
After the disaster in Laoshan, Zhou Enlai (middle), Kong Shiquan (right), and Zhang Yunyi took a group photo.
Our country can not be prosperous today without these, with steel Warriors with an iron will and their spirit of not being afraid of sacrifice for the revolution are always worth learning.
