Our country has a long history and dynasties are sporadic. The first thing that the founder of each dynasty needs to do is to establish the country name (dynasty name). The country name is the title of a country. If the reputation is not justified, the name of the country will be justified, which means that a new dynasty will be born from then on. At the same time, there is also a saying: "Records of the Grand Historian's Records" says: From , Huangdi, , to Shun and Yu, they all have the same surname but different national names, and use their virtues to highlight their virtues.
So what determines the country number? Generally speaking, there are roughly five sources: from the names of tribes and tribal alliances, from the original hexagram and title of the creator; from the area ruled by the creator or the regime; from clan relations; and means auspiciousness. Next, let’s take a look at the specific country names and origins in Chinese history:
1, Xia:
It is said that Yu had received the hexagram from Xia Bo, and he used it to call his regime Xia. According to historian , Mr. Fan Wenlan , Yu's son Qi moved west to Daxia (the area of Fenxi in southern Shanxi) and was called Xia.
2. Shang:
According to legend, Qi, the ancestor of Shang (now south of Shangqiu, Henan), helped Yu to control the flood and received the hexagram from Shang. Later, Shang was called his tribe (or tribe). After Tang destroyed Xia, he used Shang as the name of the country. Later, after Pan Geng moved to Yin (now northwest of Anyang, Henan), it was also called Yin or Yin Shang.
3, Zhou:
When Zhou tribe arrived at Gu Gong's father, they moved to Zhouyuan (now Qishan, Shaanxi). War King After destroying Yin, he took Zhou as his name. In the early Zhou Dynasty, the capital was established in Hao (now southwest of Xi'an, Shaanxi). Later, the King of Ping moved eastward to Luoyi (now Luoyang, Henan, ). Because it was in the east of Hao, it was given the titles of the Western Zhou and the Eastern Zhou.
4, Qin:
According to the records of "Records of the Grand Historian", it was originally an ancient tribe. Its leader Fei Zi was the king of Zhou Xiao and made achievements. He was given the surname Ying by King Xiao of Zhou and was given a small piece of land (now Tianshui County, Gansu, and it is also called the name of Longxi Valley). Later, Xiang saved Zhou Yougong and was named a prince. Qin Shihuang unified the six kingdoms and established Qin .
5, Han:
Xiang Yu named Liu Bang the King of Han. Later, Liu Bang defeated Xiang Yu and unified China, and the country was known as the Han Dynasty. In the early Han Dynasty, the capital of Chang'an was the capital of Luoyang , so there are Western Han and Eastern Han on the capital of , and in time, there are Pre-Han and the Later Han han.
6, Wei:
Emperor Xian of Han once named Cao Cao as the title of Duke of Wei and King of Wei , and Cao Pi was called Wei after the Han Dynasty. The royal family surname is Cao, and it is also known in history as Cao Wei .
7, Shu:
Liu Bei uses Sichuan as the activity area, and Shu refers to Sichuan, and its regime is called Shu. It is also known as Shu Han in history. The Han refers to the continuation of the Eastern Han Dynasty.
8, Wu:
Sun Quan was active in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River. In history, he built Wu Kingdom . Cao Wei once named Sun Quan the King of Wu, so he was called Sun Wu in history. It is also known as Dongwu for its status in the east, also known as Dongwu .
9, Jin:
Sima Zhao forced the Emperor of Wei to be Jin Gong , and the last one to destroy Shu was promoted to be King of Jin. Later, his son Si Yan inherited his title and forced the Emperor of Wei to abdicate and proclaim himself emperor, with the country's name Jin.
10, Sui:
Emperor Wen of Sui Yang Jian's father Yang Zhong was once banned by Northern Zhou as Sui Guogong . Emperor Wen of Sui Dynasty inherited this hexagram, which was called Sui Dynasty. He thought that the intention of following the situation was to go, and he might have changed it to Sui.
11, Tang:
Tang Gaozu Li Yuan's grandfather Li Hu, who was a disciple of Zhou, was promoted to Duke of Tang and his title was passed to Li Yuan. After the rebellion of Taiyuan , Li Yuan was called the King of Tang, and later deposed Yang Youjian Tang Dynasty .
12, Liao:
Liao was originally called Khitan, and it was changed to Liao because it lived in the upper reaches of Liaohe .
13, Song:
Later Zhou After Emperor Gong ascended the throne, he appointed Zhao Kuangyin as the history of Guide Jiedu, and the Guide army stationed in Songzhou (now Shangqiu, Henan), and Zhao Kuangyin was the Jiedushi of Songzhou. Therefore, after the Chenqiao mutiny of , he became famous in Songzhou and his country was named Song.
14, Xixia :
Tuoba Sigong occupied Xiazhou (now Hengshan County, Shanxi). It was named after Xiazhou during the founding of the People's Republic of China and was called Daxia. Because it was in the West, the Song people called it Western Xia.
15, Jin:
Jindu City Shangjing Huining (now south of Acheng, Heilongjiang), is located in the water of the tiger (now Ashi River, ). According to legend, it produces gold, Jurchen gold is the tiger.
16, Yuan:
According to " Yuan Shi ", the naming of Yuan was determined by Kublai Khan. It is the Yuan in the sentence " Yi Jing ", which means big and head. But some people think it is related to the customs of the Mongolians and totems, while others think it is related to Buddhism.
17, Ming:
Zhu Yuanzhang was one of the rebel army at the end of the Yuan Dynasty. It was developed by inheriting Guo Zixing . Guo Zixing belongs to the White Lotus Sect organization. The White Lotus Cult claims that darkness is about to pass and light is coming, in order to inspire the people to oppose the dark rule of the dynasty. Therefore, it is also called the Light Cult. The leader of the White Lotus Sect, Han Shantong, , is called Mingwang (his son Han Liner is called Xiao Mingwang), which all reflects his doctrine and purpose. Zhu Yuanzhang not only believed in the White Lotus Sect, but also admitted that he was a branch of the White Lotus Sect's uprising army (he was once the Deputy Marshal Zuo, the King of Xiao Ming). After Zhu Yuanzhang obtained power, the country was known as Ming.
18, Qing:
Manchu is a branch of Jurchen . The Jurchens established Jin at the time of Northern Song . The Jurchen power became stronger in the late Ming Dynasty and the Jin Dynasty was rebuilt (, Later Jin ). In order to expand outward, the Later Jin Dynasty cut off its vassal relationship with Ming Dynasty . The Qing Dynasty Taizong Huang Taiji changed the Jurchen to Manzhou and changed the Jin to qing. During the Song Dynasty, the Jurchens were controlled by the Khitans. The word "Liao" was used to refer to the word "Liao" in . The word "Khitan" means iron, so the name of Jin means stronger and more powerful than "Tie" and can overwhelm the Liao. Historians have different opinions on the reason for the Jin-Qing. Some people believe that Huang Taiji should avoid causing sharp contradictions.
