In today's Chenzhuang Annihilation Battle Exhibition Hall in Lingshou County, there is a copy of a precious photo. Eight cadres from the Second Anti-Japanese War Branch took a photo in front of the " Anti-Japanese War Martyrs' Monument". The back of the stone tablet is engraved with a list of martyrs who died in battles such as the Chenzhuang Annihilation Battle. The function of the
monument is to commemorate the victims and encourage the living. More than 80 years ago, there was a martyr in Hanxintai Village, Lingshou County. The back of the stele was engraved with a list of martyrs from the Anti-Shaanxi Branch who died in the Chenzhuang annihilation battle.
In the autumn of 1942, the enemy blew up the stone tablet while sweeping, and the photos of eight members of the Anti-Senior Second Branch in front of the stone tablet became precious evidence for studying the history of the Anti-Senior Second Branch and the hard battles that year.

[Photo records the history of the martyrs of the Anti-Japanese War]
The original photo is now stored in the hands of military experts, and the replica is now in the Chenzhuang Annihilation Exhibition Hall in Lingshou County. The photo was taken on May 1, 1942. In the second half of 1941, in order to commemorate the comrades of the Anti-Japanese War Second Branch who died in previous battles or died of illness, the school began to build the "Marriors of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression" in Hanxintai Village, Lingshou County, the school's headquarters stationed. This stone tablet was written by Principal Sun Yi, "The Blood of Martyrs, the Flower of Revolution", and Li Zhimin, director of the branch's political department, wrote the eight big words "The Light of Anti-God, the Light of the Nation".
From the photos, we can see the general situation of this monument. The above of the monument is the five big characters "Martyrs of the Anti-Japanese War" and the small characters below indicate the time of the Anti-Japanese War Second Branch and the erected monument. On the left side below is the inscription by Li Zhimin, the then director of the school’s political department, and on the right is the inscription by principal Sun Yi.

On the day of the completion of the monument, Nie Rongzhen, commander of the Jin-Cha-Hebei Military Region, attended the unveiling ceremony. On May 1, 1942, several military and political leaders from the Second Anti-Japanese War School took a photo in front of the monument, leaving behind this precious photo.

The eight people in front of the monument are in a spirit and capable manner, all wearing simple Eighth Route Army uniforms. They look ahead with solemn expressions, expressing their nostalgia for the sacrificial martyrs.
Among the eight people, the third person from left was Li Zhimin (founding general), who was the director of the political department of the Anti-Senior High School in the Jin-Cha-Hebei base area at that time. The fifth person from left is Yuan Peijue (founding major general), who was a political cadre at the Anti-Soviet Second Branch at that time. The eighth person from the left is Li Ping (founding major general), who once served as the political commissar in the third brigade of the Second Anti-Senior High School.
Unfortunately, during the anti-sweeping operation in the fall of 1942, the monument was blown up by the Japanese army. On the back of the Anti-Japanese Martyrs Monument, there are more than 150 martyrs from the Anti-Japanese Martyrs Branch who died in battles such as the Chenzhuang Annihilation War or died of illness. They are either anti-Japanese war students or serve in the anti-Japanese war. It can be said that this monument witnesses the history of the hard battles of the Eighth Route Army back then.
[Telling·behind the scenes]
[Chenzhuang Annihilation War is about to begin]
Anti-School Branch has always advocated "combination of war training", allowing students to grow rapidly in combat practice. The Chenzhuang annihilation battle in the fall of 1939 was a model of "combination of war and training".
In the mid-autumn season, the reporter came to the Chenzhuang Annihilation War Exhibition Hall. The former battlefield of smoke has turned into lush green eyes. The vast smoky Hengshanling Reservoir has flooded the valley of that year. On the Cangshan Mountain, traces of the battle of that year can still be found.
stood on the ridge, and director Li Xueyan introduced the surrounding terrain to reporters. She said: "The north-south Hengshan Ridge cut off the two rows of mountains extending from Tuoliang and Wuyuezhai , which made Hengshan Ridge a battleground for military strategists. Two important battles in history took place here. The first battle was the Battle of the Warring States Period in Leyang to attack Zhongshan, and the second was the Chenzhuang Annihilation Battle in 1939."

On September 24, 1939, Major General Suihara Yoshige (also known as Shuiyuan Yoshige) led the Japanese army's independent 31st brigade of the 8th Brigade and the puppet troops of five nearby counties to attack Chenzhuang along the avenue by the Ci River, trying to destroy the important rear base of the Eighth Route Army. Chenzhuang is the garrison of the Anti-Japanese Third Branch, or the location of the 120th Division's logistics agency and many other group agencies, and the enemy is under the darkness of the enemy. Once the plan succeeds, the consequences will be unimaginable.
In front of an electronic map of the Chenzhuang Annihilation War Exhibition Hall, the librarian Hao Yanan told the battle process. She said: "The enemy's 'crusade team' was on the way, and was blocked by two companies of the Eighth Route Army on the way, but he did not meet the main force of the Eighth Route Army until he walked to Ciyu Town . Yukishi Mizuhara left more than 400 people stationed in Ciyu. The large army carried heavy weapons and pretended to retreat back to Lingshou City. In fact, they attacked Chenzhuang from the rear along the path of the south mountain of Lubai Mountain on the west side. "Hearing this sentence, the reporter couldn't help but take a breath and sighed at the insidiousness of the invaders.
[Great brilliant results from the annihilation war]
0 At dawn on September 27, when the enemy came to the Dongdaogou outside Chenzhuang, the students from the first brigade of the Anti-Second Second Branch stationed nearby were in class. The students found them and everyone immediately organized the battle and fought back on the spot.
Anti-Second Second Branch always emphasizes "integration of training and war". The Chenzhuang battle is an opportunity for the practitioners to practice combat. Seeing that the purpose of delaying the enemy had been achieved, the students in Dongdaogou alternately covered and evacuated. Next, everyone assisted the troops to cover the evacuation of the masses. The gunshots sounded, which was equivalent to telling everyone that the enemy had invaded, and the people and party and government agencies in Chenzhuang quickly moved. At noon, the enemy occupied Chenzhuang and found that there was no one here.

September 27th is the Mid-Autumn Festival of the 15th day of the eighth lunar month. He Longxing, the commander of the 120th Division, rushed back to the battlefield at night to investigate the terrain. The six regiments of the Eighth Route Army set up pocket formations east of Chenzhuang, waiting for the enemy. After the
battle started, an encirclement was formed between the South and North Epiphyllum Towers and the Bone Cliff. In the most intense battle between the South Epiphyllum Towers, the Eighth Route Army repelled the enemy's charges and conducted three hand-to-hand combats, but the enemy did not take any advantage.
local troops raided the enemy, leaving them uneasy all night. The base was firm and cleared, and the enemy could not find food and water sources, and the ammunition was unable to be replenished. After a few days of fierce battle, they finally fell into trouble.
The dog was eager to jump over the wall, and Yoshihiro Sui started to call for rescue. More than 800 puppet troops rushed towards Lingshou. The basic cadres and district teams who had prepared long ago dug traps and buried mines, delaying the enemy's attack speed. After the enemy captain Tanaka Shizuo was shot dead, the Japanese psychological defense line fell into a collapse, and the more than 10 remaining enemies who were running through the wolf were also captured by the Eighth Route Army.
Director Li Xueyan said: "This battle lasted six days and five nights, killing 1,380 Japanese and puppet troops, and seizing a large number of supplies and equipment. It can be regarded as a model of mountain ambush war. "
In this battle, more than 500 Eighth Route Army soldiers died or were injured. Students from the Anti-Senior High School participated in the battle, and some soldiers gave their precious lives.

[Revolutionary spirit inspires future generations Lingshou Old District has a new look】
1958, the People's Government decided to build a reservoir in Hengshanling, the former site of the battlefield of the Chenzhuang Annihilation Battle, to benefit future generations. In order to commemorate this battle, the reservoir was originally named "August 15th Reservoir" (the 15th lunar month of the lunar calendar in 1939 is the time of the battle). The reservoir was completed in April 1960. Marshal He Long, who was in Beijing, was very happy to hear the news. He wrote a special letter to the reservoir construction committee, encouraging everyone to "carry forward the fighting spirit of Chenzhuang, engage in water conservancy, develop production, eliminate thousands of years of floods, and create thousands of years of happiness ”.
Today’s Hengshanling Reservoir
In order to commemorate this famous battle, in 1959, the Zhengding County People’s Committee (at that time, the two counties of Lingshou and Zhengding were merged, known as Zhengding County ) organized the construction of the Chenzhuang Annihilation War Memorial on the main peak of Hengshanling. The 3-meter-high white marble stele is engraved with a 464-character inscription, recording the battle course of that year.
In 2015, the Chenzhuang Annihilation War Exhibition Hall in Lingshou County officially opened to welcome guests.Directly opposite the exhibition hall is Lubaishan, one of the main battlefields of the Chenzhuang Annihilation Battle. In the seven years since the exhibition hall was opened, it has received millions of tourists from home.
In addition to doing a good job in receiving his job, director Li Xueyan also led everyone into the mountains to inspect the former battle sites and explore red resources. She said: "Telling revolutionary stories well in the new era and spreading red power is a work that we must do."
The fierce battle back then was urgent, and the village wall in front of the bullet hole. Decorate this mountain, and it will look better today. After decades of development, the poor and backward mountainous areas that were then poor and backward have long been replaced. Today's reservoir is already a "Fu Min Lake" integrating tourism, breeding, power generation and irrigation functions. The revolutionary spirit of not fearing hardships and striving forward bravely has been spread and developed in today's Lingshou land.
