At first, the secretary was afraid that Premier Zhou would worry too much, so he deliberately did not reveal the real situation to him.
But Premier Zhou is a very stubborn person. He told the secretary that if he cannot understand the various tasks of the State Council, he will not eat.

After dinner, the secretary accompanied Premier Zhou to walk on the lawn in front of the hospital.

After so many years of revolutionary struggle, President Zhu and Chairman Mao are like his two relatives to Premier Zhou. I heard that President Zhu’s health has not been very good recently, Premier Zhou was extremely anxious.

The time was at the end of 1975, and Premier Zhou's body was already very weak. Any blow could endanger his life. He understood that it was time to explain his funeral to everyone.
2 Premier Zhou’s “death instructions”
On January 7, the hospital issued a notice of critical illness to Premier Zhou .

When the comrades were almost there, Deng Yingchao began to announce Premier Zhou’s last words to everyone, because the Prime Minister had previously considered that if he was seriously ill, he would be very likely to be unable to speak.
So, he told Deng Yingchao all his last words and wishes in advance, and she was responsible for conveying them to the comrades. When Deng Yingchao was about to announce Premier Zhou’s last words, many comrades took out their laptops with them, and some people kept staring at Premier Zhou’s hospital bed, as if they were waiting for the Prime Minister to wake up.
Miss Deng first explained some specific work to everyone, and then she raised her head and announced to everyone the three last wishes of Premier Zhou:
First, do not hold any kind of memorial service for him after his death.
Second, do not hold a "body farewell ceremony" and let the Prime Minister leave quietly.
Third, no ashes are left after death, nor are they buried in Babaoshan Cemetery, and all the ashes are scattered on the land of the motherland.
After hearing these last wishes from the Prime Minister, the family fell silent for a moment. From an emotional perspective, everyone wanted to hold a memorial service for the Prime Minister.

Finally, Chairman Mao made a decision: Comrade Zhou Enlai's memorial service and farewell ceremony for the body are held as usual, but his ashes can be handled according to his last wishes.
Chairman Mao’s decision took care of everyone’s feelings for Premier Zhou and also took into account Premier Zhou’s own wishes.

He resisted the tears that were about to burst out from his eyes and made a proposal: Premier Zhou’s memorial service eulogy must be read by a person highly recognized by the Prime Minister himself and deeply trusted by comrades in the party.
It seems that there is only one person most suitable, he is Comrade Deng Xiaoping.

From then on, Deng Xiaoping became a "little follower" around Zhou Enlai. He would remember the theories and affairs that Zhou Enlai mentioned in his heart. Sometimes when Zhou Enlai was busy and forgot something, Deng Xiaoping could always give him friendly reminders.
Originally, Zhou Enlai just hoped that Deng Xiaoping could protect the French party organization as much as possible and avoid the pursuit and search of French police, but Deng Xiaoping actually organized a large number of movements in France as the host.
When the French police found out that their opponent was just an eighteen-year-old man, they were so angry that they gritted their teeth. When Deng Xiaoping was wanted by the French government, Zhou Enlai came forward to contact the Soviet Union.
