In August 1970, the Second Plenary Session of the Ninth Central Committee of the Communist Party of China was held in Lushan. At the meeting, Chen Boda echoed Lin Biao's speech, talked about the issue of "genius", and proposed to establish a president of the country. Unexpectedly, Chairman Mao had long seen through the conspiracy of Lin Biao, Chen Boda and others. After the meeting ended, Chen Boda was placed under house arrest and was immediately imprisoned in Qincheng Prison. This fourth-ranked figure in the party finally came to an end.
In fact, through Chen Boda's life, he is more like a literati. Influenced by the family environment, his Chinese studies have a very solid foundation, especially in philosophy, and he has profound attainments. In his early years, Chen Boda was not yet visible, and he became the propaganda minister of Northern Bureau in 1936 and began to gain a certain status within the party.
Of course, Chen Boda really made his fortune during the Yan'an period. At that time, Chen Boda, who came to the revolutionary holy land, was just a teacher. He mainly taught some basic theoretical knowledge of Marxism-Leninism at the Marxist-Leninist Academy. However, Chen Boda, a Fujian native, spoke Minnan dialect, and it was difficult for the students to understand what he said. Later, he found a translator and translated Chen Boda's Minnan into Mandarin.
The turning point in Chen Boda's life was in 1939. This year, at a theoretical symposium, Chen Boda's unique analysis of Sun Yat-sen's thoughts attracted Chairman Mao's attention. Soon, Chen Boda became Chairman Mao's political secretary. Since then, Chen Boda has become a "representative" around the Chairman. They often discuss related topics in philosophy. After a while, Chairman Mao attached more importance to Chen Boda.
Of course, Chen Boda is still good at writing articles. His article "Commentary on "The Destiny of China"" became a banned article in the Kuomintang's white area , winning himself the title of "Chen Niboda". Even Zhou Enlai praised Chen Boda: He is "the best theorist of our party."
After the founding of New China, Chen Boda was still mainly engaged in publicity work and served as the deputy minister of the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee. Of course, Chen Boda was far from entering the core leadership of power at this time. Until 1966, it was another turning point in his life.
At the 11th Plenary Session of the Eighth Central Committee held this year, Chen Boda was elected as a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee and became a leader at the national level. After the establishment of the Central Cultural Revolution Group, Chairman Mao personally appointed Chen Boda as the leader of the Central Cultural Revolution Group.
At that time, Chen Boda could be said to be powerful. He led people to seize the power of People's Daily , put forward the theory of "sweeping all monsters and demons", and even used the power in his hands to persecute the founding fathers. For example, Liu Shaoqi, who once served as the president of the country, also published an article in "Red Flag", publicly criticizing Marshal Peng Dehuai and becoming an "anti-Peng hero". Through these "positive" performances, Chen Boda successfully won the trust of the leaders and was continuously promoted.
At the "Ninth National Congress" held in 1969, Chen Boda was re-elected as a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee, ranking behind Chairman Mao, Lin Biao and Zhou Enlai, and was the fourth person in the party. Unexpectedly, just one year later, Chen Boda, who was once glorious and majestic, fell from the peak.
1970 Second Plenary Session of the Ninth Central Committee , Chen Boda disappeared from people's sight. This "central pen" who thought of the end of his political career not only ended, but also went to prison and became a prisoner.
In 1980, after trial by the Supreme People's Court, Chen Boda was sentenced to 18 years in prison. However, the organization still gave a certain degree of tolerance and continued to implement preferential treatment policies, allowing Chen Boda to be given a medical parole and placed a three-bedroom apartment for him. In order to facilitate the care of Chen Boda, the organization also transferred Chen Boda's son and his family to Beijing.
At that time, the organization distributed 100 yuan of living expenses to Chen Boda every month, which was already a lot at that time. However, Chen Boda was obsessed with books and was spending a considerable amount of living expenses to buy books, so he was struggling to live. For this reason, the organization specially increased his living expenses to 200 yuan per month.
However, Chen Boda also has a habit, which is that he likes to eat fruits, but his living expenses are all spent on books, so he naturally cannot eat fruits. Later, the organization asked him about his difficulties, and Chen Boda made a request, hoping to give him more money, and he wanted to eat fruits.
In view of this, the organization decided to pay Chen Boda a fruit fee of 200 yuan every month, which met Chen Boda's only request in his later years.
