zhenfei . She may not be the most famous concubine in the history of the Qing harem, but at least she is one of the most popular concubines.

05 Willful and nonsense
The Queen Mother undoubtedly likes Concubine Zhen to be innocent and lively, but it is a different matter if she exceeds the scope of her three views.
At that time, Western photography technology had been introduced to China. Many Chinese people believed that taking photos would lead to people's souls and lead to people's life. The open-minded concubine Zhen disagreed and quietly bought a camera. Practicing repeatedly in his bedroom Jingren Palace , he quickly learned photography skills and became one of the earliest concubines in the Qing Dynasty to take photos. After learning photography skills, Zhenfei "don't care about her posture and dress arbitrarily" when taking photos; the photo location was not only in her Jingren Palace, but also went to Hall of Yangxin , which undoubtedly made Cixi very disgusted.
If these things about Zhenfei are still considered to be "willful and nonsense", then the empress dowager will become "jealous". According to "My Grandfather Xiao De Zhang", the Guangxu , who loved Concubine Zhen, used the inventory of pearls and jadeite to make a pearl cheongsam for her. One day, the two were walking in the Imperial Garden. When they were in high spirits, they were caught by Cixi. Cixi was furious and said : "Even I am not willing to use so many pearl beaded robes. How dare you, a concubine, do you? What if you want to be a queen? The emperor is too spoiled you !" Guangxu and Concubine Zhen were so scared that they knelt on the ground and kowtowed to apologize. The ancestor immediately asked him to take off the cheongsam with him and beat Zhenfei 30 bamboo pole.
In addition to proving that Concubine Zhen is "inappropriate", what makes Concubine Zhen's crime worse is that she began to violate the Qing Dynasty's laws. When Concubine Zhen entered the palace when she was young, she was favored by thousands of people, and gradually became a little confused about the importance. At that time, the monthly expenses of the concubines in the harem were provided by quotas. For example, the queen had 1,000 taels per year, plus some silk, animal skin, meat, etc., and then it was reduced step by step. Concubine Zhen is generous by nature, and the people around her praise her according to her wishes. In addition, she likes all kinds of Western things, so her monthly salary is naturally not enough.
According to Hu Sijing's "National News" record, because he was close to Emperor Guangxu and was able to blow the "pillow wind". Concubine Zhen began to accept bribes and was appointed as an official. Once, she even received 440,000 taels of silver, and finally the story was revealed. This is the law that broke the Qing Dynasty that "the palace cannot interfere in politics".
In the end, Concubine Zhen and her sister Concubine Jin were punished with the punishment of " stripping her clothes and scepter ( take off her clothes and directly punishing the body ) . Concubine Zhen and Concubine Jin were both demoted to "noble people". There is no doubt that Concubine Jin is innocently implicated.
06 Losing power
Concubine Zhen was " court stick " and was demoted to a "noble man" in 1894 2 years ago, in the Sino-Japanese War of 1895 , many people thought that the crime was in Cixi, but in fact, Cixi had "returned to power" at that time. Of course, the real power is still in the hands of the Lord Lafayette behind the scenes, but the commander of the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895 has always been Emperor Guangxu himself. In this process, Concubine Zhen undoubtedly stood on Guangxu's side. Moreover, with her own influence, she tried to reverse the emperor's long-standing disadvantage to the empress dowager in one fell swoop.
"Hundred-year-old reform " failed, Zhenfei was again punished for court, and this time she was thrown into the North Sansou after Zhongcui Palace , and Zhenfei was sent to the cold palace from then on. In the cold palace, Concubine Zhen ate the meals of ordinary servants every day and was not allowed to talk to others.During the holidays or the first or fifteenth day of every month, an old eunuch who guarded her scolded Cixi on behalf of her. The reprimand was carried out at lunch. The old eunuch pointed at Zhenfei's nose and listed several crimes. Zhenfei had to kneel down and listen to the reprimand. After the reprimand, Concubine Zhen must bow to her for gratitude.
If there was no Eight-Nation Alliance invaded Beijing, would Zhenfei die alone in the cold palace ? No one knows the answer, because Zhenfei's life came to an end that year.
07The ending of many different opinions
One theory is that when the troops were at the city, Cixi took Guangxu to flee west. Before leaving, Concubine Zhen refused to leave, and argued with Lord Lao Fu and jumped into a good angrily. This statement comes from the recollection of Queen Mother Longyu . Considering that Empress Dowager Longyu has always been gentle and obedient, only Lafayette followed her statement, her statement may be doubtful.
Another saying is that Concubine Zhen was thrown into the well by Cixi. There are many memories of this statement, and this is the version that has won the most trusts so far. According to the memories of Cui Yugui , Zhenfei left the most impressive three sentences on him before she died : "I shouldn't die !" "The emperor didn't let me die !" "The emperor didn't let me die !" "You love to escape but don't run away, but the emperor should not escape !"
It can be seen from this that before his death, Zhenfei still had expectations for the emperor. And this is precisely the main reason why Concubine Zhen had to die.
08 Conclusion
Concubine Zhen, she may not be the most famous concubine in the history of the Qing harem, but at least she is one of the most popular concubines.
To apply a popular sentiment :Don't live in the next life of the emperor's family.
