Mao Yuanxin is the son of Chairman Mao’s younger brother Mao Zemin and the nephew of Chairman Mao.
Mao Yuanxin suffered a lot in his childhood. When he was just over one year old, his whole family was arrested and imprisoned by the enemy.
On September 27, 1943, Mao Zemin was brutally killed by the enemy. Mao Yuanxin, who was only over two years old, lost his father from then on.
But they did not get free because of this. He and his mother continued to go to jail and did not return to Yan'an until 1946.
Since 1951, Mao Yuanxin has been living and studying with his uncle.
1966, Mao Yuanxin's "official career" path became smoother, and he served as deputy director of the Liaoning Provincial Revolutionary Committee, deputy director of the Political Department of the Shenyang Military Region, and political commissar of the Military Region.
He was only 33 years old when he became the political commissar of the Shenyang Military Region.
In the next 10 years, Mao Yuanxin made many mistakes, so he was "protective review" in 1976 and sentenced to 17 years in prison in 1980.
But during his reign, he was not without contribution!
In 1975, if he had not issued a "strict order" against the opposition, 100,000 people would have died innocently!
What's going on?
Since 1974, hundreds of small earthquakes have occurred in the areas of Yingkou and Haicheng in Liaoning Province. By the beginning of 1975, small earthquakes were more frequent and the magnitude gradually increased.
This situation quickly attracted the attention of the Liaoning Provincial Party Committee, and decided that Li Boqiu, then Secretary of the Standing Committee of the Liaoning Provincial Party Committee, would be responsible for earthquake relief work.
In the early morning of February 4 that year, a magnitude 5 earthquake occurred in Yingkou and Haicheng areas. Liu Boqiu and Mao Yuanxin rushed to the scene to check.
At that time, the Provincial Earthquake Office gave a prediction opinion: Destructive earthquakes are likely to occur in Yingkou and Haicheng areas in the near future.
After asking about the specific situation, Li Boqiu began to discuss with Mao Yuanxin and issued an earthquake forecast to the people in the area.
However, Mao Yuanxin proposed to be broadcast directly by Liaoning People's Radio Station. Mao Yuanxin’s suggestion has certain “risks”.
In Li Boqiu's words, it means: as soon as the radio was broadcast, the whole world knew about it! If the earthquake doesn't come within a few days, then why don't you make a joke?
Mao Yuanxin said:
"The key is to let the people leave the unsolid houses, especially at night, and they cannot stay indoors overnight!"
The temperature outside was more than ten degrees below zero at that time. If the earthquake did not come for several days, it would cause frostbite.
In addition, if an earthquake forecast is issued through Liaoning People's Radio Station, it is likely to cause panic and production will definitely be affected.
You should know that at that time, many workers in Angang were in Haicheng and Yingkou. If this incident caused panic, it would definitely affect Angang's production. In this way, the consequences would be unimaginable. The result of
negotiation: earthquake forecasts should be issued, but a relatively stable approach should be taken.
However, Mao Yuanxin still insisted that the people in Haicheng and Yingkou areas were not allowed to live indoors and must be moved to safe outdoors.
According to Mao Yuanxin's requirements, the provincial party committee quickly issued an instruction:
From that night, the people of Haicheng and Yingkou counties were not allowed to live indoors, and the livestock and agricultural machinery of the production team must be taken outdoors.
In addition, cadres, party members and militia at all levels went down, mobilizing the people from door to door to move them to a safe place.
html At 19:36 pm on February 4, a strong earthquake occurred in the area, with an astonishing magnitude of 7.3. After theearthquake, the disaster relief troops quickly arrived at the disaster area, and Mao Yuanxin also went to Haicheng, Yingkou and other places without stopping to continue organizing disaster relief work.
According to statistics after the earthquake, more than 1 million houses collapsed in Liaoning Province, more than 10,000 injured and more than 1,300 died.
It is estimated that if there was no earthquake forecast at that time, the death toll would reach 100,000.
Later, when Mao Yuanxin was passing by Beijing, he made a special trip to visit his uncle and reported to him about the situation of the Haicheng earthquake.
Chairman Mao said: "It is said that there is a forecast, but the loss is not big!"
Mao Yuanxin, who should have been "successful", was a little nervous. He said:
"Don't mention the forecast! After the forecast was issued, I felt even more nervous. If the earthquake did not come for a long time, it affected production and people's lives and became a laughing stock after dinner, what is the face of the provincial party committee going to meet the elders of Guandong?"
In addition, Mao Yuanxin also said: After the earthquake, many people praised the forecast for success very high, but he always felt that it was full of accidents and it was just a coincidence.
In fact, Mao Yuanxin’s worries make sense and are not unreasonable.
You should know that the northeast was cold at that time, and it was a big risk to strictly order the people to leave the warm house and move to the outdoors.
It was not easy for Mao Yuanxin and the leaders of the Liaoning Provincial Party Committee to make such a decision at that time!
1976, after Mao Yuanxin was "protective review", the media no longer mentioned this matter.
Mao Yuanxin did make many mistakes during his tenure in Liaoning, such as his decision to kill "female middle-aged hero" Zhang Zhixin and advocate "white book hero".
Of course, he has also participated in Haicheng's earthquake resistance decisions and is also its main decision maker.
There are many people he has been harmed, and there are many people he has saved. Sometimes, history is so wonderful and complex!
