Taiwan’s local county and mayor election is about to come to an end. This election is not only a vote of distrust for the Democratic Progressive Party Tsai Ing-wen, but also the biggest opportunity for the Kuomintang to turn over. From the current perspective, the Kuomintang can be said to have won the victory, and the DPP returned in a defeat. However, the Kuomintang's advantages were not expected to be of great importance, and the final result should be considered that both sides had their own achievements. Before the election, the Kuomintang held the ruling power of fourteen counties and cities, the Democratic Progressive Party had seven counties and cities in charge, and there was also Taipei City under the control of Ke Wenzhe . As far as the current situation is concerned, even if the Kuomintang can win the Chiayi mayoral election next month, it can only maintain the position of 14 county and city mayor. The DPP is even worse, with the original seven-seat mayors in counties and cities being reduced to five. Even with the DPP's secret support Kinmen County Chen Fuhai, the DPP's territory has shrunk by one seat, and Tsai Ing-wen resigned from the position of chairman of the DPP.

This year's election is just a matter of joy and sorrow, and Zhu Lilun is hard to say that he is the final winner. And I think there are two real winners, one is the , which is 400,000 votes from the opponent. 1, New Taipei , mayor , Hou Youyi , and the other is the mainland who is out of the matter and watches coldly. In this election, the mainland's maturity in cross-strait relations has been significantly improved, and there is already a flexible space for handling cross-strait issues. We still remember that in the 2018 and 2020 Taiwan Island elections, the mainland actively supported the candidates of the Kuomintang. Supporting the Kuomintang, represented by Han Kuo-yu, has become , and , but this just gives the DPP space to operate. They have begun to fight the "anti-China and Taiwan" strategy. They fabricated a series of incidents mainly focusing on the "Wang Liqiang spy case", inciting the people's disgust with the mainland, and also destroying the Kuomintang's election situation in 2020. The subsequent Kaohsiung Mayor Han Kuo-yu was removed from office and the Kuomintang was wiped out in the "Four Major Referendums" in 2021 can all be regarded as derivatives of that year.

, while mainland China has kept a low profile this year, deliberately avoiding related issues. Even Xie Hanbing, a Taiwanese media person who often appears on mainland political commentary programs, said bluntly: " The mainland is now deliberately not talking about elections, so as not to be used by the DPP to operate ." From the current situation, our choice is beneficial to the Kuomintang on the island. Since the horn was sounded by the local county and mayor election this year, the Kuomintang has taken the initiative and swept away the previous gloom of failure. In a series of incidents such as the case of plagiarism of the Democratic Progressive Party's Hsinchu Mayor Lin Zhijian, the case of Taoyuan mayor Zheng Yunpeng making money on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, and the case of wing of the Democratic Progressive Party's slandering the Taipei mayoral candidate Jiang Wan'an, etc., the Kuomintang has shown great combat power. I can't confirm whether there is any secret help from the mainland in . However, the copy of the application form that revealed that Zheng Yunpeng made a fortune in the mainland for a scientific and technological project should be collected in the mainland's science and technology department, and its appearance seems to illustrate some problems.

DPP also wants to regain the banner of "anti-China and protecting Taiwan" this year, but it is like it has hit the air and its strength has been resolved. is ultimately because the mainland no longer easily involves island elections, so the DPP has no focus on taking advantage of the issue. At the same time, we can also see that mainland military aircraft and warship do not have a day off, and at most dozens of fighter jets patrolling above the Taiwan Strait. is politically insightful and exerts its strength in secret. The military is open and close, and the mountains are shaking the tiger. The series of actions in the mainland can be said to be moderate and strict, and both kindness and power are used. We have begun to take the initiative between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait, and can advance and retreat and defend. This is the most valuable change. We also need to understand that the victory of the Kuomintang has limited help to cross-strait relations, and placing hope on the Kuomintang is tantamount to seeking a skin to the tiger. We just use their hands to repair the DPP, and we still have to rely on ourselves to truly achieve unification.

Military aircraft cruises non-stop

When we turn our attention back to Taiwan Island, I think the overall social atmosphere on the island will not change greatly after this election. Because this election can be said to be the most deserted county and city mayor election in the past decade, there was neither the shooting of Wen in 2014, Ko Wen-je's "Ke Fan Tornado", nor the feat of Han Kuo-yu winning the Democratic Progressive Party base Kaohsiung City in 2018. The hardcore fans of the Kuomintang and the Democratic Progressive Party are all on their own, and the basic market is the greatest core pillar. The promise of the Kuomintang Chairman Zhu Lilun before the election was to "win 16 seats of county and city mayors, more than half of the 'six metropolis' (Taipei City, New Taipei City , Taoyuan City, Taichung City, Kaohsiung City, Tainan City)". Now it seems that this promise is only half completed. Compared with the momentum of being sure to win before the election, the Kuomintang can be said to be mixed after the election.

Hou Youyi became the big winner

Hou Youyi and the Kuomintang on the island and the Republican Party of the United States both encountered similar problems in this year's election, and the final result was far less optimistic than expected. But just as the governor of Florida in the United States defeated his opponent locally and became the new "popular king" within the Republican Party, Hou Youyi on the island of Taiwan also defeated his opponent for more than 400,000 votes, setting a new record for the Kuomintang in the New Taipei region. The people who elected were unstoppable. Although the Kuomintang led by Zhu Lilun won the election, it also lost Miaoli County , Kinmen County, Penghu County and other places. Especially Miaoli County, it was entirely because of Zhu Lilun's own arrogance that the Kuomintang lost its ruling power here. Zhong Dongjin, who won the final victory, was originally the Kuomintang. It was because he had conflicts with the top leaders of the Kuomintang led by Zhu Lilun that he chose to leave the Kuomintang and run for election on his own. So Zhu Lilun is gradually losing the qualification to compete with Hou Youyi to participate in the Taiwan leader in 2024, and Zhao Shaokang, who is eyeing the throne of Taiwan leader, has also been marginalized because he has not made much effort in this election.

Zhu Lilun

0 The Kuomintang has always been a "internal strife". If Zhu Lilun, Zhao Shaokang and others were determined to suppress Hou Youyi, then there would naturally be division within the Kuomintang again, and the final benefit would still be the Democratic Progressive Party . DPP Chairman Tsai Ing-wen announced her resignation as chairman of the DPP after the election failed. If there is no accident, the DPP will enter the "Lai Ching-te era." Lai Ching-te was originally a heavyweight contestant within the Democratic Progressive Party and was called "Lai Shen". When he was the mayor of Tainan , he had long enjoyed the "support" of Taiwan independence forces. The Democratic Progressive Party sent Lai Ching-te, the strongest in the country, to run for the Taiwan leader in 2024. Then the Kuomintang had no capital for division. Only Hou Youyi could compete with Lai Ching-te with sufficient strength. If Hou Youyi doesn’t play, the Kuomintang will still lose the 2024 election.

Tsai Ing-wen resigned as chairman of the Democratic Progressive Party

At the same time, this election also demonstrated several very important social phenomena. First of all, the force that supports cross-strait reunification has almost disappeared in the political arena on Taiwan. Among the troops sent by the New Party, which considers itself to be a unified faction, this time, only the Taipei City city's Hou Hanting's was successfully re-election, and the New Party also achieved the worst results since its establishment, leaving only one Taipei City Councilor. This shows that although the public opinion on the island has taught the DPP a lesson with votes and hates the DPP from the bottom of his heart, it may not support cross-strait reunification. Secondly, although the DPP failed in this election, we must see that this failure was caused by its internal struggle. Chiu Yiren, the best candidate for elections in the Democratic Progressive Party, was idle by Tsai Ing-wen and his soldiers because he belonged to the same camp as Lai Ching-te. It can be said that this failure was only the failure of the Tsai Ing-wen faction rather than the overall defeat. Once Lai Ching-te takes office, the DPP still has strong strength to create conflicts between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait, so we must be more careful.
