Chile North was part of the Inca Empire before the Spanish Conqueror arrived. Since the 16th century, the Spanish began to conquer Chile (the city of Santiago was founded in 1541). The southern Mapuche stubbornly resisted the Spanish invasion. It was not until the mid-19th century that it became part of Chile.
On September 18, 1810, the Provisional Military Government was established in the name of the deposed King of Spain Ferdinand VII. Since then, the Chilean independence movement has been launched, so this day has become Chile's National Day.

In 1970, El Salvador Allende was elected president. Many industries (such as copper ore ) were later nationalized.
On September 11, 1973, with the support of the United States, Army Chief Augusto Pinochet launched a mutiny. Allende was murdered. Pinochet becomes the head of state. Thousands of people were killed in the following years, and millions of Allende's supporters were forced to displace.
The 1988 national vote was the majority opposed to Pinochet's continued position.
In the 1989 free election, Christian Democrat Patricio Alvin Ahsokar was elected president.
Christian Democrat Eduardo Frey was elected president from 1994 to 2000. In 1998, Pinochet abdicated from the position of Army Chief and was arrested in the UK the same year. He was later placed under house arrest. It was released in 2000 due to health reasons. Since 2000, the Social Democrat Ricardo Lagos Escobar has been elected president.
On January 15, 2006, Michelle Bachelet won the election and was elected the first female president in the history of the country. On March 11, Bachelet was sworn in as the 47th president of the Republic of Chile in Val Paraíso.
At 3:34 am on February 27, 2010, an Richter scale 8.8 earthquake occurred in Concepcion in southern Chile. At present, the earthquake has killed at least 750 people nationwide and more than 2 million people have been affected to varying degrees. Traffic in the earthquake-stricken area was interrupted and houses collapsed severely.
On March 10, 2010, Pinella took office as President of Chile, marking the Chilean right to regain the throne of the president in the past 20 years.
