When Zhao Shiyan died, his niece Zhao Shiguang was only 2 years old. When he was a child, Zhao Shiguang heard his aunt Zhao Shilan tell the story of Zhao Shiyan's heroic sacrifice. Zhao Shiguang, who didn't understand what revolution, had a strong revolutionary ideal, and had only one thought in his heart: "I want to go to the front line!"

In November 1939, 14-year-old Zhao Shiguang walked 300 miles to Yan'an without telling his parents, and met his uncle Zhao Shiyan's former comrades Wang Ruofei, Zhou Yang and others. Under Zhou Yang's introduction, he entered Yan'an Women's University to continue his studies.

In the summer of 1943, Zhao Shiguang was admitted to the Department of Mathematics of Wuhan University who moved west to Leshan, Sichuan. At this time, Wuhan University's progressive power was destroyed and there was no party organization on the campus. Zhao Shiguang and his classmates formed the "After-class Talk Club" of the progressive club, and joined the party's peripheral organization "The Core Organization of the Wu University Movement" to organize the democratic student movement.

In June 1946, Zhao Shiguang joined the Communist Party of China. In July 1947, Zhao Shiguang graduated and left school. He went to Kunshan , Nanjing and other places to engage in underground work, and participated in the establishment of the first party branch of Wuhan University after the Anti-Japanese War. Zhang Tingbi, known as the "first person in the transformation of scientific and technological achievements", said: "They (Wang Xiangming and Zhao Shiguang and his wife) are both doing basic research and are the people who pave the way for us. The mathematics studied by Teacher Zhao is the foundation in basic research."

Wang Xiangming died in October 2019. Soon, Zhao Shiguang took out more than 400,000 yuan of savings from many years and donated money to establish the "Wang Xiangming Life Science Scholarship" at Wuhan University.

On May 10 last year, the Yangtze River Daily published a major theme report "Looking for 21 Original Intentions", focusing on 21 early members of the Communist Party of China who died before the founding of New China , telling the heroic deeds of revolutionary martyrs, and explaining the great spirit of founding the Party. She is the good daughter of the Party and the real Communist Party member

"She is the good daughter of the Party and the real Communist Party member. She went to Yan'an at the age of 14 and became an underground party member in 1946, fighting for the cause of the Party for life. In the teaching and scientific research work of the Department of Mathematics of Wuhan University, a group of outstanding students have been trained and made great contributions..." Learning about the death of Zhao Shiguang, her husband Wang Xiangming's student and professor Shu Lihui posted a message to mourn and pay tribute to the descendants of the martyrs.

Shu Lihui told the reporter of the Yangtze River Daily that Zhao Shiguang lives very frugal. "Sometimes, when he goes to her house, he cooks some instant noodles when he sees her, and sets up the 'Wang Xiangming Life Science Scholarship' for the saved money, which is admirable."

Zhao Shiguang once said: "I am fortunate to work hard for my ideals and the prosperity of the country, and I am very pleased to give my efforts to cultivate the next generation."

Zhao Shiguang lived in a simple dormitory in the North Third District of Wuhan University during his lifetime. After Zhao Shiguang's death, the School of Mathematics and Statistics of Wuhan University wrote in the "Obituary" released: "Comrade Zhao Shiguang's life is a life of fighting for the cause of the Party and the people. We must learn from her revolutionary spirit of adhering to the lofty ideals, learn from her political character of loyalty to the Party and fulfilling her duties for the Party, and learn from her noble sentiment of selfless dedication, never forgetting her original aspiration, and bravely shouldering the mission of glorious educating people!"
