(I) Tianjin's first printing company

Tianjin Printing Company was established in the east section of the British Concession in 1885 by the British Yonggu Engineering Scook and Anderson. It is the first lead type printing factory founded by British businessman Kent in Tianjin British Concession .

At first, the British merchant Jardine Mahjong Company operated stationery and printed books. Later it belongs to Tianjin Customs General Taxation Department Decuillin and son-in-law Hannagen.

In 1886, the first English newspaper in Tianjin, China Times, Chinese people like to call it Western newspaper. The editor-in-chief is Mi Ji, an Englishman who is the consultant of Li Hongzhang . The newspaper was not operating for a long time and was suspended in 1891.

1894 Hannagan expanded and renamed it to Tianjin Seal Library on this basis. It translated and published many foreign scientific and technological books and various exquisite Chinese and English books. It was a well-known British publishing company at that time.
