The reason why this press conference is unique is that the protagonist of this press conference is not someone else, but Huang Wenhuan, who serves as the vice chairman of the Vietnam Standing Committee.

On August 9, 1979, a press conference of reporters shocking China and the world was being held in the auditorium of the Beijing CPPCC.

The reason why this press conference is unique is that the protagonist of this press conference is not someone else, but Huang Wenhuan, who serves as the vice chairman of the Vietnam Standing Committee.

At this press conference, he told the media reporters present that he would break with the current Vietnamese government and fight against the anti-China group to the end.

This statement can be said to have caused a thousand waves. He is also called " the highest-level foreign leader , who defected to China."

So why did Vietnam’s senior leaders come to China in this way? What kind of conflict did Huang Wenhuan have with the Li Duan Group in Vietnam? What was his ending in China?

Vietnam Revolutionary Elderly

1905, Huang Wenhuan was born in Ng'an Province in central Vietnam. When he was 19 years old, Huang Wenhuan joined the local revolutionary organization in Vietnam and devoted himself to the anti-French movement.

At that time, there were many anti-colonial revolutionary organizations in Vietnam, but most of them did not have the correct program and development direction. The anti-colonial struggle remained at the feudal level of "respecting the king and expelling the barbarians".

In this case, the so-called "revolution" not only did not cause too much storm in Vietnam, but instead suffered heavy losses due to the suppression of the colonists.

The successive setbacks made Huang Wenhuan realize that without the blessing of ideological weapons, the revolutionary activities of various groups were just small-scale fights and could not get rid of the shackles of colonization. So he began to broaden his horizons and find the real revolutionary concept.

Just as he embarked on the road of seeking truth, in 1926, with the help of the revolutionary group, Huang Wenhuan left his hometown where he had lived for more than 20 years and came to Guangzhou, China, and entered the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Training Class.

In Guangzhou, he not only accepted advanced communist ideas, but also met the revolutionary mentor who changed his fate of life - Ho Chi Minh .

With Ho Chi Minh's guidance, Huang Wenhuan is like seeing the sun clearing the clouds, growing from a confused boy to a staunch revolutionary warrior, and also becoming a right-hand assistant around the mentor.

After achieving success in Chinese studies, Huang Wenhuan, who was reborn, returned to Vietnam and carried out anti-French and anti-colonial revolutionary activities with his comrades.

In 1930, after absorbing a certain number of revolutionary patriots with new ideas, Ho Chi Minh, Huang Wenhuan and others formally formulated the revolutionary program and founded the Indochina Communist Party (predecessor of the Vietnam Communist Party ).

As a veteran of the Indochina Communist Party, Huang Wenhuan shouldered the important task of developing the party organization.

1935, Huang Wenhuan rode a steamship to China alone and carried out Vietnamese revolutionary activities in Nanjing and Wuhan. He absorbed Vietnamese and spread Marxism and communist thoughts.

Establish grassroots organizations at all levels and cultivate batches of outstanding revolutionary cadres for the anti-colonial movement in Vietnam.

During this period, Huang Wenhuan realized that with the current strength of the Indochina Communist Party, it was difficult to fight against the powerful French colonists in the environment of the Chinese revolution.

In his opinion, if we want to truly achieve national liberation, we must establish an army belonging to the Vietnamese people, so at his suggestion.

The Communist Party of Indochina began to form guerrillas, carry out counter-insurance against the army in the colonial areas, and tried to establish an armed force with certain combat effectiveness.

And with the continuous efforts of him and the Indo-Shanghai Communists, they really formed a revolutionary team.

In September 1940, the "Restoration Army" led by the Indo-School Communist Party launched an anti-colonial uprising in Lang Son . Huang Wenhuan responded to the call and pulled up a guerrilla team in Beishan.

Later, under the leadership of Ho Chi Minh, the two teams were combined into one and became the predecessor of the Vietnamese People's Army. After the end of the Second World War, the world's anti-colonial national independence movement was in turmoil. France, which was embarrassed in World War II, tried to continue to maintain its colonial empire. In order to suppress the Vietnamese revolutionary organization, it frantically increased its troops to the Vietnamese region.

At the same time, in order not to arouse public outrage from the Vietnamese people, French colonists supported the last emperor of Vietnam, Saigon, to establish Vietnam, in order to compete with the Democratic Republic of Vietnam led by Ho Chi Minh, and constantly sent troops northward to try to eliminate this new communist regime.

After that, Huang Wenhuan and his mentor Ho Chi Minh had a fierce battle with the French colonists on Indochina Peninsula , but the new Vietnamese People's Army must be inferior to the enemy in terms of equipment and tactics. The anti-French movement gradually developed into a stalemate, and the two sides won and lost each other, so it was difficult to go further.

is at this critical moment of the Vietnam Revolution. On October 1, 1949, the red flag was raised in Tiananmen Square. In the following year, Chiang Kai-shek's troops entrenched in southern Xinjiang were all expelled. Ho Chi Minh and his Democratic Republic of Vietnam have since been spared from worries and obtained a strong foreign aid.

In October 1950, Huang Wenhuan set out for Beijing and became the first ambassador to China of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. He sat in this position for seven years and made great contributions to maintaining the friendship between China and Vietnam.

When he saw that New China spared no effort to aid Vietnam and even sent famous generals as military advisers, he saw what the spirit of communism was and who was helping them carry out the cause of national liberation.

Since then, Huang Wenhuan has chosen the truth and the true comrade. He secretly swore in his heart that he would maintain the great friendship between China and Vietnam throughout his life.

But soon, Huang Wenhua's own situation changed drastically!

suffered persecution and defected to China

On September 2, 1969, Ho Chi Minh, the founder of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and the great pioneer of the Communist Revolution in Vietnam, passed away in Hanoi due to illness at the age of 79.

Ho Chi Minh's death means that Vietnam's local political forces have begun to become unbalanced. When Ho Chi Minh was still alive, the local factions and pro-China factions within the Viet Cong were already incompatible.

But because of Ho Chi Minh mediation and his own huge cohesion, the contradiction between the two factions did not further intensify!

But now Ho Chi Minh has passed away, and no one can have the cohesion of his anymore, so the local leader Le Duan , who has long been unable to hold back, took the opportunity to attack. Before the revolutionary mentor's bones were cold, he couldn't wait to seize the power of the party, government and military in Vietnam.

and After the end of the Vietnam War, the north and south Vietnam were unified again, and the Li Duan Group attributed all its contributions to itself, constantly artificially downplaying China's important role in the movement to resist U.S. aggression and aid Vietnam.

Faced with the rebellious actions of the Li Duan Group, Huang Wenhuan and other conscientious Communist Party members joined forces to compete with the Li Duan Group at all levels of the party and vowed to defend the bottom line of China-Vietnam friendship to the death.

Faced with Huang Wenhuan's multiple frontal criticisms, Li Duan was determined to kill. But Li Duan also knew that Huang Wenhuan was a veteran of the party and a close comrade-in-arms of his mentor Ho Chi Minh. He was comparable to himself in terms of fame and qualifications. If he used violent means to carry out the purge, it would definitely bring turmoil to the party.

Although he was scruples, Li Duan did not intend to stop! In December 1976, at the Fourth National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Li Duan sat down with Huang Wenhuan hypocritically, and then instigated his puppy to fabricate a report.

This report uses Huang Wenhuan as an excuse to "old and sick" to squeeze him out of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee and the Central Committee. Since then, Huang Wenhuan has lost her real power and has only retained the false title of Vice Chairman of the Vietnamese Parliament.

Although Huang Wenhuan was excluded from the core level of the Vietnamese Communist Party, his reputation was still there and his influence was still there. Because he was worried that Huang Wenhuan would make a comeback, the Li Duan Group began the second step.

They took various excuses and tried every means to prevent Huang Wenhuan from attending various important meetings. They wanted to marginalize Huang Wenhuan's role in the party in this way and weaken his influence in the party!

At the same time, in order to create conditions for anti-China, Li Duan stepped up her cutting with the new China and hugged the Soviet Union!

First, I worshiped the Soviet Union, and wanted to wear a pair of pants with Borizhnev. Then I wanted to build the Indochina Federation, tinker with hegemony on the Indochina Peninsula, launch a war of aggression against Cambodia , and deliberately provoked conflicts on the Sino-Vietnam border, killing our border guards and innocent people, and committing a crime that is difficult to write.

As the saying goes, it is tolerant, after our repeated warnings failed, on February 17, 1979, our border defense force was ordered by the Central Military Commission to launch a self-defense counterattack against Vietnam, and taught this ungrateful ungrateful wolf a lesson.

However, the Li Duan Group, which failed in the war, did not reflect on its stupid behavior. Instead, it intensified its political persecution of Huang Wenhuan in anger and ordered him to attend the opening ceremony of the "Vietnam People Overcomes Chinese Invaders" exhibition to discord between Huang Wenhuan's relations with the people of our country.

Faced with Li Dun's detriment, Huang Wenhuan attended the opening ceremony with a courageous attitude, but he was wearing a Chinese military uniform and a Chinese military cap, and his eyes were full of contempt for Li Dun and others. He was like a soldier who could never be defeated, which made all the anti-China elements present ashamed.

Huang Wenhuan's plot shattered Le Duan's conspiracy, and even made Vietnam's anti-China group grit his teeth at him. In the summer of 1979, Huang Wenhuan suddenly felt unwell in his lungs, and had a fever for several consecutive days, so he was admitted to the 108th Military Hospital of Hanoi.

Huang Wenhuan understands medicine a little. Based on the symptoms he had in his body, he judged that he should have lung cancer. However, the doctor in charge of the diagnosis insisted that he had tuberculosis , and said that if Vice Chairman Huang had doubts about the diagnosis, he could go to East Germany, which had better medical conditions for treatment. The statement of

made Huang Wenhuan, who had a keen sense of politics, realize that something was wrong. Li Duan obviously deliberately misdiagnosed him, and advised him to treat East Germany even more viciously!

East Germany was a vassal of the Soviet Union. Huang Wenhuan, a pro-China, sent there, wouldn’t it be that sheep enters the tiger’s mouth? But Huang Wenhuan also realized that it is difficult for him to do anything except being humiliated by Li Duan when he stays in China!

After thinking for a while, Huang Wenhuan decided to take advantage of the opportunity to go to East Germany and then divert to China. Li Duan was secretly happy about Huang Wenhuan's bowing, so he made a favor and approved Huang Wenhuan's request for treatment in Germany.

When Huang Wenhuan set off, a secretary and a doctor were accompanying him. He had a short rest in Karachi, Pakistan. The Vietnamese Embassy in Pakistan sent a confidential secretary to take care of Huang Wenhuan and had lunch with him.

During the meal, Huang Wenhuan pretended to be a little tired and was preparing to rest for a few days in Karachi . That night, Huang Wenhuan sneaked out quietly while the person was not paying attention and jumped into a taxi parked on the side of the road.

Because he doesn't understand English and can't speak Arabic, Huang Wenhuan had to use gestures and ask the driver to take him to the Chinese Consulate General in Karachi.

But it was Sunday that day, and the Consulate General was resting, so Huang Wenhuan had to stand at the door and knock on the door desperately until someone opened it.

The staff who opened the door saw a gray-haired old man standing outside the door, so they quickly invited him into the house and asked him what was wrong with him when he came to the consulate.

Due to his previous experience in working in China, Huang Wenhuan has excellent Chinese skills. He explained his identity and origin to the staff in fluent Chinese, and asked him to contact the head of the Consulate General and asked him to arrange a flight to Beijing as soon as possible.

After learning about Huang Wenhuan's intentions, the head of the Consulate General knew that the matter was extraordinary and quickly reported this special situation to Beijing.

After receiving the news, the Chinese side immediately arranged a vehicle to take Huang Wenhuan to the airport and successfully boarded a flight to Beijing. Since then, Huang Wenhuan left his beloved motherland with grief and anger and came to the revolutionary holy land in his heart.

When he learned that Huang Wenhuan had "defected" to Beijing, Li Duan was shocked and decided to launch a new round of political purges and issue instructions to party organizations at all levels in Vietnam.

asked them to "completely eliminate those who do not meet the standards of party members from the party as soon as possible", and even directly wrote anti-China into the program of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

is a fight back against Li Duan Group. On August 9, 1979, Huang Wenhuan held a press conference in Beijing. While denying the Li Duan Group's rebellion and betrayal of the revolution, he circulated the "Letter to Compatriots in the Country" to the outside world

in the letter, Huang Wenhuan showed the determination and courage of a Communist to Vietnam and the whole world in the tone of an old revolutionary. He called on the real Communists in the Vietnamese party to unite, unite with the people, and smash the conspiracy of the Li Duan Group.

But at that time, Vietnam's Li Duan Group controlled more than ten times. They used their power to make the domestic mouthpiece media slander and slander Huang Wenhuan, and in order to ignite the hatred of the Vietnamese people towards Huang Wenhuan.

In June 1980, the Vietnamese authorities illegally sentenced Huang Wenhuan to death for "treason".

It can be said that Li Duan had lost her mind at that time, and the Vietnamese authorities could do everything they could to Huang Wenhuan! But since Huang Wenhuan is in China, they are actually helpless except to enjoy their mouths! When Huang Wenhuan first arrived in Beijing, due to his continued deterioration of health, he was arranged to be in the 301 Hospital under the care of the central leaders at that time, where he underwent a comprehensive physical examination.

, but the result was not as expected by Huang Wenhuan. There was indeed a big problem in his lungs and he had a tumor!

But with the efforts of medical staff, Huang Wenhuan was controlled and there was a trend of improvement! Seeing that her physical condition improved, Huang Wenhuan once again strengthened her determination to fight the Li Duan Group to the end!

So Huang Wenhuan, who was in a foreign land, devoted his limited energy to his new work. He successively published memoirs about the Vietnam Revolution. After seeing the achievements of China's reform and opening up, Huang Wenhuan was deeply moved.

He once said this to Deng Xiaoping, who came to visit him: "The Li Duan Group betrayed Ho Chi Minh's line, invaded Cambodia, controlled Laos , and waved its swords on its communist partners.

Since the founding of Vietnam, this country has been in the dark clouds of war, and has not carried out corresponding national construction for a whole forty years."

But fortunately, in 1986, Le Duan, who committed the heinous crime, died of illness in Hanoi. The pro-China faction, who had been dormant for many years, led the Long March to take over as the supreme leader of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

After the Long March came to power, he and another pro-China faction Ruan Wenling started to repair their relationship with China. The persecution against Huang Wenhuan and his family also began to loosen. His son was allowed to visit Beijing, and he also allowed Huang Wenhuan's wife to live in the Chinese primary school.

During the 1990 Beijing Asian Games , former Vietnamese Minister of Defense Wu Yuanjia participated in the opening ceremony of the Asian Games as a special guest. Wu Yuanjia is Huang Wenhuan's revolutionary old friend, and the two are Ho Chi Minh's right-hand man.

In Beijing, Wu Yuanjia finally met this revolutionary comrade who had been away from for many years. The two talked a lot. Huang Wenhuan was relieved by the Vietnamese authorities' cliff stop. When Wu Yuanjia asked Huang Wenhuan whether he would like to return to Vietnam, Huang Wenhuan, who had a very high political sensitivity, shook his head.

In his opinion, although Vietnam is now in charge of the pro-China faction, Nguyen Vinh Ling, the local faction has never disappeared due to the death of Le Duan. The local populist in Vietnam is an important factor that shackles Vietnam's development.

If I, a former "traitor", return to Vietnam, it will inevitably cause a counterattack from the local faction. By then, the situation in Vietnam, which had already slowed down, will fall into the quagmire of party struggles. The country will never have peace, and economic construction will not be carried out normally.

Therefore, Huang Wenhuan decided not to return to Vietnam, so she would become the bond that maintains the two internal factions of Vietnam and contribute to her beloved motherland.

After hearing this, Wu Yuanjia was also a little sad.But the domestic situation in Vietnam is indeed as Huang Wenhuan said, and it will be difficult to improve for a while, so there is no force on Huang Wenhuan's return to China!

Ko in the second year after Wu Yuanjia visited China, in January 1991, Huang Wenhuan was admitted to the hospital for treatment due to lung infection with and cardiopulmonary insufficiency. During this period, due to the decline in immunity, the cancer that was eliminated in the past made a comeback.

Although his condition improved for a while under the treatment of medical staff, due to his old and weak body, lung infection and important organs failed, and his symptoms worsened sharply, and he was unable to survive this hurdle in his life.

At 11:00 on May 18 of the same year, Comrade Huang Wenhuan, an old friend of the Chinese people, the most determined overseas comrade-in-arms of the Chinese Communists, and one of the veterans of the Vietnamese revolutionary veterans, died of illness at the Beijing Hospital at the age of 86.

Looking at Huang Wenhuan's life, from a revolutionary youth to a communist, from a founding father to a "defector", his life is legendary. Mount Tai collapsed before his face changed, he vowed to defend his bottom line to the death, and used all his life to threaten the friendship between China and Vietnam. Mr. Huang Wenhuan's contributions attracted worldwide attention. He is a great and true international communist fighter.
