In the fourth year of Wude in the Tang Dynasty (621), Dongyang County was renamed Wuzhou, and Quzhou was divided into Xin'an (Xin'an) County. In the first year of Tianbao (742), Wuzhou was changed to Dongyang County, and in the first year of Qianyuan (758), it was restored to Wuzhou, and continued until the Song and Yuan dynasties. In the 13th year of Zhiyuan (1276), it was changed to Wuzhou Road . In the 18th year of Zhizheng (1358), it was Zhu Yuanzhang, and it was renamed Ningyuefu . In the 20th year of Zhizheng, it was changed to Jinhuafu . In the eighth year of Chenghua in the Ming Dynasty (1472), Suichang, Jinhua, Lanxi , and Longyou County were partially established. Jinhua Prefecture is composed of eight counties: Jinhua, Lanxi, Dongyang, Yiwu, Yongkang, Wuyi , Pujiang and Tangxi, so it is known as "Bawu".
  In 1914, Jinhua Road was established, and its jurisdiction expanded to the former Quzhou and Yanzhou Prefecture . In 1927, the road was abolished, and all counties were still directly under the province. In June 1932, the eighth district of the Zhejiang County Inspector Office was established, and it was stationed in Jinhua. In September, the Sixth Special Zone of the Administrative Inspector Office of the Zhejiang Provincial Special Administrative Region was renamed. During the Republic of China, the administrative inspection area serial number, county, and special office station changed. In June 28 of the Republic of China (1939), the establishment of Pan'an County , and the establishment of five townships including Shuangfeng, Jinfeng, Runzhou, Longmen, and Huzhong in Jinyun County, Panfeng, Wumei and Cuifeng in Yongkang County, Feishan Township in Tiantai County, and Dongyang County and other townships, which are the territory of Pan'an County.
  On May 7, 1949, Jinhua was liberated and the Eighth Administrative Region of Zhejiang Province was established. In October, it was renamed Jinhua Special Zone. In November, Jinhua District has 2 cities and 9 counties under its jurisdiction. In March 1955, Quzhou Special District was abolished and merged. Subsequently, the counties (cities) under the jurisdiction of Jinhua Special District will be merged and relocated, and will be adjusted with neighboring cities such as Hangzhou, Lishui . In November 1958, Tangxi County was abolished, and the administrative areas of the original county were divided into Jinhua, Lanxi and Longyou. Now it has been changed to all the administrative areas of the original county were divided into Jinhua County . In April 1968, the Jinhua Special Zone was changed to Jinhua District. In May 1985, the Jinhua area was abolished, and the former county-level cities of Jinhua and Quzhou were promoted to prefecture-level cities respectively, and the city-level county-level system was implemented. Wucheng District was established in Jinhua City, Jinhua County was established in the suburbs, and Lanxi County was abolished and Lanxi City (county level) was established. Jinhua City governs 7 counties of Wucheng District, Lanxi City, Jinhua, Yongkang, Wuyi, Dongyang, Pan'an , Yiwu and Pujiang. Longyou, Kaihua , Changshan and Jiangshan counties in the former Jinhua area are under the jurisdiction of Quzhou City . In May 1988, the Yiwu County was abolished and the Yiwu City (county level) was abolished, and the Dongyang City (county level) was abolished. In October 1992, Yongkang County was abolished and established Yongkang City (county level). In December 2000, Jinhua County was abolished and Jindong District of Jinhua City was established.
