In the winter of 1934, Yan Xishan's father Yan Shutang was critically ill. When Yan asked about his funeral, Yan's father asked his tomb to be simple, and could lay stone walls on both sides of the tomb, and engrave the " Memorial to the Master" written by Zhuge Liang. After Yan asked about the reason, he realized that the domestic political situation is turbulent and unpredictable. After looking at the 20-year military career, he failed to unify the world. In the future, he seemed to assist the monarch of A Dou, and use Zhuge Liang as an example to pacify the world. He could also retain his reputation in history for the people to admire. From then on, Yan Xishan remembered his father's teachings and devoted himself to Jiang's family, doing his best to do his best.
In the 1980s, the former residence was established as Riverside Folk Museum . The museum displays six major series of layouts based on agriculture, food, housing, transportation and entertainment letters, reflecting the unique folk culture and colorful folk art in the northern part of the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China.
