Rare old photos: Chairman, Prime Minister, Mr. Zhu and Marshal Ye, four leaders surrounded by a foreigner!

This is a very rare old photo. In this photo, four leaders, Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, Zhu De and Ye Jianying, surrounded an American, which is rare.

This photo was taken in Yan'an in July and August 1944. It was taken by the US Dixie Military Observatory during a visit to Yan'an. The Observation Mission arrived in Yan'an in two batches. The first batch was led by the head of the Observation Mission, the military officer of the US Embassy in China, the Army Colonel Bao Ruide , the famous diplomat, the sinologist Xie Weisi , etc., and the second batch was led by Davis, the deputy head of the Observation Mission, the US Consul in Kunming, and the second secretary of the Chongqing Embassy.

The American who is surrounded by four leaders in the photo C position is Davis. During this visit, the Dixie Observation Team took many photos, among which this photo is the most famous, but today few can tell the origin of it in its original form.

Davis is very tall in the photo, wearing a good-textured military casual , looking tall and thin. Judging from the photos, Davis is a somewhat restrained and low-key person with a shy expression on his face.

Mao Zedong, who was standing on his right, smiled loudly and cheerfully. He was wearing a half-old Zhongshan outfit . Although it was simple, his face showed great information and optimism.

The far right side of the photo is Ye Jianying, who is standing next to Mao Zedong. At that time, Marshal Ye was still wearing a beard, which was a rare image of "Ye Shenzhan". Moreover, he was the only person among the five people in the photo who were wearing leggings.

Davis's left is Zhu De. He is also wearing a half-old Zhongshan suit and does not wear a military uniform, but this suit doesn't look full and is very fat. His smile was as simple and honest as usual, and he was also very energetic.

The left side of the photo is Zhou Enlai. In addition to serving as the vice chairman of the Military Commission, he also served as the deputy director of the Political Department of the Kuomintang Military Commission, with the rank of lieutenant general. When the Dixie Observation Team arrived in Yan'an, he personally went to the airport to greet him. During the stay in Yan'an by the Dixi Observatory Mission, Zhou Enlai ordered the C-47 aircraft to be disguised in full to avoid being bombed by Japanese aircraft.
