On July 16, 1977, the Third Plenary Session of the 10th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China was held in Beijing. The core content of this meeting was to restore Comrade Deng Xiaoping to his duties as member of the Central Committee, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee, Vice Premier of the State Council, and Chief of General Staff of the People's Liberation Army.
This also means that Deng Xiaoping officially returned and took over the management of the country.

After the news reached Taiwan, the highest levels of the Kuomintang authorities also held discussions. Many people believed that Deng Xiaoping had a mild temperament and that future cross-strait relations should be beneficial to Taiwan. But most people still don’t understand the CCP’s final choice of Deng Xiaoping. After all, there are many people with higher qualifications and stronger abilities than Deng Xiaoping.
Chiang Ching-kuo who was present was silent for most of the time. Finally, he solemnly said to everyone: "You don't know Deng Xiaoping, but I know him, and he is more powerful than Mao Zedong..."
Looking at that period of history from the perspective of future generations, there may be some doubts. At that time, Deng Xiaoping had been denied three times by Mao Zedong, and had been publicly criticized. Objectively speaking, Deng Xiaoping did not have much advantage, but why did the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China choose him in the end?
The author reviewed a large amount of historical materials and found that after Mao Zedong's death, there was a very loud voice inside and outside the party for the restoration of Deng Xiaoping's work, which can be said to be the aspiration of the people. There are two main reasons for this.
The first is that Deng Xiaoping has strong working ability and knows the right direction; the second is that Deng Xiaoping is the only person who dares to tell the truth and stick to his position.

Let me first talk about the historical scene at that time. In 1976, Zhou Enlai, Zhu De and Mao Zedong, the three most important leaders of the Republic, passed away one after another. Soon after, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China took decisive action to crush the "Gang of Four" group. This incident was regarded in history as a sign of the end of the Cultural Revolution.
However, in essence, the Cultural Revolution was not completely over, because the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China at that time did not propose a new development strategy, but continued to follow "Mao Zedong's line."
In other words, we must continue to develop in accordance with the strategic direction formulated by Mao Zedong during his lifetime and continue to "take class struggle as the key link." Economic development is still regarded as the "capitalist line."
But the reality is very cruel. Ten years of turmoil have brought the national economy to the brink of collapse, and people's minds are still stuck in the Cultural Revolution. Therefore, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China urgently needs a new leader who can immediately reverse the situation and lead China to find the right path. There is only one person who meets the conditions, and that is Deng Xiaoping.
In fact, there were many people in the central government who had this qualification at that time, such as Ye Jianying, Hua Guofeng, Li Xiannian, and other founding fathers such as Wang Zhen and Geng Biao, all of whom had high prestige and strong work ability.

The first reason why everyone appeals to Deng Xiaoping is that he has strong work ability, and more importantly, he knows the right direction.
was mainly reflected in the period when Deng Xiaoping came back to take charge of the work for the second time.
In 1975, Premier Zhou was seriously ill. At his strong suggestion, Mao Zedong agreed to let Deng Xiaoping return to work in the State Council and temporarily take over Zhou Enlai's work.
After Deng Xiaoping took office, his primary focus was on rectifying the railway system that had been paralyzed at that time. The top priority of this work was "Xuzhou".
Due to the destruction of the Cultural Revolution, Xuzhou, as the northern railway transportation hub, has long been in chaos. Coupled with the heavy political struggle, rectification is extremely difficult. However, Deng Xiaoping used a vigorous and resolute work style and an extremely tough attitude to rectify the Xuzhou railway system.
As a result, it took only 12 days for the Xuzhou Railway Transportation Hub to fully resume work, and the national railway chaos was quickly sorted out. Deng Xiaoping's rectification of Xuzhou became a bright spot in history, and foreigners called it a "miracle."

Subsequently, Deng Xiaoping learned from the experience of rectifying Xuzhou and began to rectify the work of other systems across the country. Generally speaking, there are two principles. The first is not to engage in political struggles and focus on specific work; the second is to be pragmatic and efficient.
Under the auspices of Deng Xiaoping, a large number of people who were assigned to carry out revolutionary struggles in various systems were forcibly transferred back to their original units, and many jobs began to be restored quickly. This gave everyone hope that Deng Xiaoping knew what to do and what the right direction was.
Mao Zedong was very satisfied with Deng Xiaoping's drastic rectification across the country and achieved very impressive results. This made the Gang of Four feel that Deng Xiaoping had become the biggest obstacle on their way to usurping the party and seizing power. So they made up various charges to slander Deng Xiaoping in front of Mao Zedong.
Mao Zedong's physical condition was already very poor at that time, but he still believed that his political direction was correct and that the Cultural Revolution was correct.

Later, Mao Zedong asked Deng Xiaoping to preside over a central meeting, and asked him to give a summary of the Cultural Revolution at the meeting. It should not be all praise, but also criticism and correction. Generally speaking, it should be "three to seven".
In fact, Mao Zedong wanted to see what Deng Xiaoping really stood for. He knew that Deng Xiaoping, like him, was stubborn at heart and would not give in to others. Of course, he also hoped that Deng Xiaoping could change his views.
Deng Xiaoping refused Mao Zedong's request. He said that he was "a man from the Peach Blossom Spring", I don't know if there are Han , and there is no mention of Wei and Jin.
Deng Xiaoping's move shocked everyone. Mao Zedong was a god-like existence at that time, and no one dared not listen to his suggestions. At that time, the Cultural Revolution was the supreme revolutionary cause, and no one dared to raise objections.
In essence, Deng Xiaoping rejected Mao Zedong in person, which was equivalent to denying the Cultural Revolution. He was the only person who dared to do so. Deng Xiaoping did things that many people wanted to do but did not dare to do. In the face of authority like Mao Zedong, he dared to stick to his own principles and correct opinions, which made many people secretly thumb up in their hearts.
Since then, most of Deng Xiaoping's work has stopped. The Gang of Four then launched a massive "criticism of Deng" campaign across the country, and Deng Xiaoping's family was once again decentralized.

It should be noted that Mao Zedong gave special instructions for decentralizing Deng Xiaoping. He ordered Wang Dongxing to send a special person to protect Deng Xiaoping and instructed no one to interfere. The most important thing is that Mao Zedong gave special approval to retain Deng Xiaoping's party membership. This is also regarded as Mao Zedong deliberately leaving a chance for Deng Xiaoping.
After Mao Zedong's death, Hua Guofeng took power, but he insisted on the "two whatevers" thinking and still wandered on the old road, and a large amount of work could not be carried out at all. If the central government wants to break the situation, it must have someone who knows the right direction and dares to stick to its principles.

The only person who meets the conditions is Deng Xiaoping. And history also proves that the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China made an extremely correct choice at that time. Let New China usher in another key turning point!
