After the founding of New China, the People's Army also accelerated the pace of revolutionization, regularization and modernization. The implementation of the military rank system is an important symbol of the implementation of regularization. After intense selection, on September 27, 1955, on the eve of National Day, the first grand rank award ceremony was held in the Ziguang Pavilion in Zhongnanhai, and the top ten marshals of the Republic were born.
At around 5 pm, amid the majestic "March of the Volunteers", Zhu De, Peng Dehuai, He Long, Chen Yi and other marshals in Beijing took the stage to award ranks. Chairman Mao personally handed over the marshal's appointment certificate and the three major medals to the ranks.
As one of the founders of the People's Army and the long-term commander-in-chief of our army, Zhu De was the first to take the stage to award titles. This order is to some extent the order drawn after the comprehensive judgment of the qualifications, merits, contributions, and positions of the top ten marshals. Mr. Zhu deserves it.
However, I later learned that the coding of the certificate of appointment and medals at all levels are very particular, and it should also be in line with the order mentioned above. However, Zhu De's letter of appointment code is 004, not 001. Why is this? So who did 001 give it?

As we all know, the formulation of the military rank of New China strictly imitated the Soviet rank. The Soviet Union still had a more respectful "Major Marshal" in terms of marshals. Generally, this marshal is often awarded the supreme leader of the Soviet Union, such as Stalin !
Therefore, the establishment of a military rank system in New China was initially considered as "Grand Marshal". So this Grand Marshal must be Chairman Mao, who has led our party and army for a long time to achieve great victory after great victory. Therefore, could this 001 code be left for Chairman Mao?
In fact, Chairman Mao clearly refused to accept the position of Grand Marshal. Not only did he refuse, but even Premier Zhou, Liu Shaoqi, Deng Xiaoping and other leaders clearly stated that they would not accept the rank. Therefore, 001 has nothing to do with these leaders.
So, who did 001 give it? It was not until 2015 that the reporter accidentally learned that Marshal He Long’s appointment code was this 001 when he was interviewing He Long’s daughter’s home!

says that accidents are actually unexpected. Any readers who know Mr. He’s history will understand his important position in the process of creating the People’s Army.
He Long was born in Hongjiaguan, Sangzhi County, Hunan Province in 1896. His ancestors were all military households. Therefore, the family has been brave and heroic for generations. He Long's youth was in the 1911 Revolution. Although the Qing Dynasty regime was overthrown, China was still dark. Yuan Shikai actually tried to restore the imperial system. He Long, a young man who has always been chivalrous, started a revolution in 1916 with just two kitchen knives, and brought up his team to fight against Yuan and protect the country.
This time, He Long's life was as ups and downs as his team, fighting constantly, but it was an unjust war initiated by warlords. He Long was very sad and confused.

Only after the founding of the Communist Party of China, especially after the " Revolution " torrent of anti-imperialism, anti-feudal and anti-warlords, He Long gradually felt that he saw new hope.
At this time, He Long was also the lieutenant general of the first division of the Jianguo Sichuan Army, who was of local warlord nature. Upon learning that the Guangzhou Revolutionary Government was about to carry out the Northern Expedition , He Long led his troops to respond and was appointed as the commander of the First Division of the Ninth Army of the National Revolutionary Army to participate in the Northern Expedition.
At this time, the General Political Department of the National Revolutionary Army sent a Communist Party member Zhou Yiqun to lead a propaganda team to the first division. He Long learned about communism for the first time in detail and immediately felt that this was the truth he had been pursuing hard. So the entire propaganda team was immediately invited to join the first division. He also formally submitted a request to join the party to Zhou Yiqun.
It should be noted that although it was the "Great Revolution" period, many warlord troops were on the surface like Chiang Kai-shek , and were full of verbal slogans "Alliance between Russia and the Communist Party and the Communist Party." In fact, they were very exclusion and even hated the Communist Party in their bones. It is extremely rare, and even unique, generals like He Long who sincerely invites Communists to integrate into their own troops into a system! This lays the foundation for He Long's troops to become the main force of 8 Yi in the future. In December 1926, Helong's troops conquered Yichang , and the first division was adapted into the 15th Independent Division.

The following year, Chiang Kai-shek launched the "April 12 Coup", openly revealing his counter-revolutionary face and massacred Communists and revolutionary masses. Another counter-revolutionary who has always been disguised as a deep disguise, Wang Jingwei also raised his butcher's knife. The Communist Party of China decided to launch an armed uprising immediately to fight back against the Kuomintang reactionaries. The best way is to plan those armies with a good revolutionary foundation and implement "military violence".
At that time, among the National Revolutionary Army, the one with the best revolutionary foundation was the 11th Division with Ye Ting and the 15th Independent Division with He Long. They were both affiliated with the Fourth Front Army .
So the party sent Zhou Enlai to Wuhan to do He Long's work. He Long expressed his revolutionary intentions straight to the point and actively prepared for "soldier violence". According to the central decision, He Long led his troops to gather in the areas of Jiujiang and Nanchang and joined forces with Ye Ting and Zhu De, and became the main force of the uprising.
Among them, the most resolute revolutionary will is the 3,000 Xiangxi soldiers brought out from his hometown. It was their backbone who took the lead. He Long's troops did not collapse soon like other troops, but had always made great sacrifices and contributions to the Nanchang Uprising.
Not only that, one month after the Nanchang Uprising, Mao Zedong also led the vigorous Autumn Harvest Uprising. In the case of unfavorable uprising, Mao Zedong also used He Long's spirit of "two kitchen knives to make a revolution". It can be seen that He Long played an important role in this historical moment at this critical moment that changed China's destiny. This is why He Long was awarded the No. 001 Marshal's appointment letter.
