1. A letter from the National Museum

The picture above is a letter from the National Museum. The handwriting is strong and powerful, but it has many pens and is not easy to identify. Translate it to you:
After three months, we will be more concerned about each other. I gathered everything on the battlefield and had no time to write a letter to ask questions. I am a little at ease in the coming days, so I wrote to you with a letter: Since our army entered Sichuan, we will be able to win if we attack and be firm with our code. The troops of the Magnetic Army are twice as powerful as ours, and we can also win by surprise. Since the Miyue, in the battle of Naxi, the rebel army suffered three to four thousand casualties, and their courage has fallen. On March 8, our army moved its position and did not dare to chase after it. Yesterday, our army further attacked, killing no less than a thousand people and capturing them, and having many guns, cannons, bullets and other spoils. After these two battles, even though the rebellion is fierce, it is not worth worrying about. ...The throat disease has not been cured yet. All the generals of the army were determined and worked hard to achieve success. How is my sister's postpartum body? Is her breasts strong? I think so much. I really hope to send letters to comfort me. After a quick visit, I asked about the good news and praised the auspiciousness of the palace. E Bai, on March 25, he was at Dazhou Post and his reply letter could be sent to the Yongning National Guarding Army General Headquarters for forwarding.
This letter of family is a precious historical relic in the National Museum. It is 25.2 cm long and 30.8 cm wide. The writer of this letter of family is the famous General Cai E.

Cai E's original wife is Liu Xiazhen. The couple has a harmonious relationship. During her tenure in Guangxi, Cai E invited her mother and Liu Xiazhen to Guangxi. Before Cai E arrived in Kunming, he sent them back to his hometown in Hunan until Liu Xiazhen died of illness.

4. The wandering Zhu Xiaofeng
Xiaofengxian, whose original name was Zhu Xiaofeng, was born in Hangzhou in 1900. His father was a military officer of the Eight Banners of Manchus. Later, Qing gradually declined, and Zhu Xiaofeng's father was dismissed. When Xiaofeng was 6 years old, her father died of illness. Her biological mother was weak by nature. The mistress drove her and her biological mother out of the house. The biological mother became ill and died soon after.
After Xiaofeng lost her parents, Hutie Zhang looked at the pretty and childish girl, and remembered her friendship with the Zhu family for more than ten years, so she felt compassion and took Xiaofeng by her side to take care of her.
Later, the situation became more and more turbulent. Zhang's mother was unable to take care of the girl, so she took Xiaofeng to find an artist named Hu to learn from her. The 11-year-old Xiaofeng followed Boss Hu to make a living by singing and traveling around the world.
Boss Hu is kind-hearted, but he is gradually unable to sustain his singing. He heard that Zeng Pu, the Hangzhou General Officer, was short of people at his family, so he asked someone to introduce Xiaofeng to the Zeng Mansion. When she first entered the mansion, Xiaofeng followed the manager to do some rough work.
One day, Zeng Pu accidentally heard Xiaofeng hang her voice in the corridor, and her intuition was clearer and more pleasant, so she became more and more thoughtful, so she asked people to teach her how to read and write, and then learn how to practice piano, chess, calligraphy and painting with the lady in the mansion, and prepare to train her. Xiaofeng was smart since childhood and felt that meeting Mr. Zeng was a destined blessing. She worked harder and more hardworking, which was also considered a success in learning. But Aunt Zhang in the mansion could not tolerate a singing wild girl making trouble in her mansion, so she found the maid and took Xiaofeng to Shanghai while Zeng Pu was not at home.
From then on, Xiaofeng left her hometown and fell into dust. But Xiaofeng did not complain because she was still young, but she sang songs and laughed according to the requirements of the brothel, and gradually gained some reputation under the stage name "Xiao Fengxian". Later, because the business of Shanghai Fengyue Place gradually became neglected, the brothel moved to Beiping and made a living in Yunjiban, Shaanxi Lane, one of the famous eight great hutongs.
In the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China, the entire society was undergoing drastic changes, but the eight great alleys in Beijing seemed not affected by the outside world, and they were still full of joy, bright lights and wine, and very lively. Many upper-class people and celebrities and elegant guests came here to have fun.

5. A hero meets a beauty
In the third year of the Republic of China (1914), Cai E, who had passion and ambition, gradually discovered that Yuan Shikai did not really want to follow the path of republic, and was even planning to become emperor. The establishment of the Republic of China was a revolutionary result of countless lives. Yuan Shikai's intention to be an emperor made Cai E disgusted, and he was determined to escape from Beijing. This was a place of failure. In order to let Yuan Shikai relax his vigilance, Cai E began to pretend to be addicted to the sensuality and sex, and linger in the eight great alleys.
It was also a coincidence that Cai E came to Yunjiban and dressed up as an ordinary businessman, without revealing his identity. It happened that Xiao Fengxian was free at that time, so the madam took him to Xiao Fengxian.
Xiao Fengxian was smart and clever. She stayed in Zeng’s mansion again. When she saw Cai E, she was impressed by his temperament. She thought that he was a big man, so she put aside the charm of a custom woman and treated Cai E sincerely.Cai E looked at the woman in front of him and talked casually for a few words. He found that she was not vulgar and had a certain degree of knowledge, and also had a good impression of her.
For the next period of time, Cai E often went to the field to praise Xiao Fengxian. After a while, Xiao Fengxian became moved by Cai E. Cai E is indeed not ordinary to Xiao Fengxian. He often orders famous dishes for her, and tells her the principles and knowledge of being a human being in the Three Kingdoms and Water Margin. The two often savor tea and chat together, and Cai E will also take Xiao Fengxian to participate in some activities.
The first time Xiaofengxian met such an excellent man in her life. It was normal to be moved by the heart of spring. But at this time, Cai E's biggest wish was to break away from the tiger's mouth as soon as possible and realize his life ideals.

6. Jin Chan broke away from her shell, and she will leave forever
Cai E did not indulge in the sensuality between dogs and horses. He has been planning how to escape from Beijing.
One day, Cai E told Xiao Fengxian about his secrets and ideals, and asked her to find a name to hold a banquet. The more people invited, the better, and the more lively the show, the better. Xiao Fengxian always knew that Cai E was not an ordinary person and would leave sooner or later. Cai E was willing to tell her such a confidential matter, which was her absolute trust in her, and she was willing to do anything for this man.
So, we set out to organize the banquet. That night, guests gathered. After the guests sat down, Cai E stood up and said that his stomach was uncomfortable and went to the thatched cottage. The jacket and watch were left in the seat, and no one else cared about it. The people who were watching were also attracted by the grand scene of singing and dancing, but they did not expect Cai E to escape at this time.
Before leaving, Cai E didn't have time to say anything to Xiao Fengxian, leaving only a determined back. Xiao Fengxian didn't expect that this would be the last time she saw this big hero she loved.
After General Cai E passed away, the Beiyang government held a grand funeral for him. Xiao Fengxian met Cai E again at the memorial service in Central Park. She could not accept how the young general who was full of energy and heroic a year ago lay in such a cold coffin. She lay in front of the spirit and cried bitterly, unable or unwilling to believe that the man who told herself that "When I defeat Yuan Shikai, I will pick you up and play in the mountains and rivers, and open my eyes" could no longer see this victory scene.

General Cai E
7. Hiddenly, belonging to ordinary
Although Xiao Fengxian is in the dust, General Cai E's kindness made her unable to be stigmatized because of herself. After attending General Cai E's memorial service, she left Yunjiban. In this way, a generation of famous prostitutes hid in the market.
Later, Xiao Fengxian met a soldier who loved her very much and was willing to protect her in this troubled world. Not long after, Xiao Fengxian married the brigade commander surnamed Liang and came to Shenyang to live. The two lived together for more than ten years, and were in harmony and affection, but they suffered from marriage for many years and had no children. The war never stopped, and Brigade Commander Liang died on the battlefield.
Xiao Fengxian's life was not very satisfactory after her husband's death. She could only rely on listening to the opera to relieve her grief. Later, while listening to the opera, I met Li Zhenhai, a boiler worker I had known before. Both of them love to listen to storytelling , and they are both single, and they both hope to have a companion in their later years. So, Xiao Fengxian married Li Zhenhai. Life could have continued like this, but later my husband passed away unexpectedly and the situation at home became worse and worse.
952, Xiao Fengxian suffered from Alzheimer's disease . Gradually forgetting a lot of people and things, but stepdaughter Li Guilan still remembers that in the last days of her life, she would always take out a well-preserved but yellowed old photo from her arms and look at it in a daze, as if that was the whole of her life.
