1949, after learning that the reactionaries were going to retreat to Taiwan and fight for the trapped beasts, our party immediately began to make arrangements for the subsequent liberation operations in advance, and arranged a large number of agents to sneak into the treasure island and carry out revolutionary activities quietly. Once the time was ripe, the uprising flag would mount the sea landing troops of the People's Liberation Army to attack the remnants of the Kuomintang and complete the great cause of unification. Among them, the highest-level agent was General Wu Shi.

Wu Shisheng was in an old intellectual family. He had a grand patriotic ideal since childhood and was determined to save the people from water and fire. After the outbreak of the Wuchang First Agency , the fire of revolution quickly spread throughout the southern provinces. He was inspired by the Three Principles of the People, so he joined the revolutionary army with several friends and went to the front line to fight against the Qing army. After the establishment of the Beiyang Government, he was recruited into the military academy of Wuchang . The following year he transferred to the Baoding Military Academy for further studies. Because of his excellent grades in various subjects, he was hailed as the "top scorer in military academy".

11929, he traveled to Japan to study. After returning to China, he joined the Kuomintang camp and served as a teacher at the Mainland University in Nanjing, providing a large number of military talents to the National Government. During this period, he has been standing opposite the CCP and spared no effort to support various anti-communist movements. In 1936, he was awarded the rank of major general. During the War of Resistance Against Japan, he led his troops to fight in East China, South China, , southwest and other places, and made many contributions and was the backbone of the national army. 1944 was a special year for Wu Shi. This year he led his troops to fight in Yunnan and Guangxi. Due to the mistakes in the early strategic arrangement and the poor command of the previous line military commanders, the Chinese army suffered consecutive defeats and lost many strategic areas.

In order to reverse the defeat, Wu Shi sent a telegram to Chiang Kai-shek , demanding more troops to support. However, Chiang Kai-shek believed that the main troops participating in the war were Yunnan Army and Gui Army . They were not his own direct central army and were not worthy of rescue. As a result, the battle became increasingly ugly. Many troops of the National Army even fled without fighting, leaving a large number of ordinary people behind and allowing the Japanese to bully them. This made Wu Shi very dissatisfied. He began to doubt whether the path he chose was correct. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, the senior officials of the State Government immediately did not comfort the people and carry out post-war reconstruction, but tried every means to plunder the people's wealth. What's more, they indulged in their emotions all day long, not like soldiers at all, but like bandits!

Wu Shi became more and more disappointed. He began to realize that the national government had rotten to the bottom and was hopeless. Following Chiang Kai-shek would only destroy himself. So he began to take the initiative to contact the Communist Party and secretly joined the party organization in 1947, becoming a glorious red warrior. In the autumn of 1948, he used the excuse to transfer a batch of top-secret files from Nanjing to Fuzhou, and did not allow Chen Cheng to bring these precious information to Taiwan, hoping to dedicate it to the People's Liberation Army.

1949, Wu Shi frequently traveled between Shanghai and Nanjing, and sent top-secret information to the hands of the People's Liberation Army through the underground party organizations in Shanghai. In August 1949, the party organization invited him to leave the government and transfer to the liberated area. The people's government had just been established and was in need of manpower. But Wu Shi refused. He wanted to go to Taiwan to undercover, help the People's Liberation Army attack Taiwan across the sea and achieve cross-strait reunification. At the end of August 1949, he flew to Taiwan and was immediately appointed as a lieutenant general, responsible for cooperating with Hu Lian, , Hu Zongnan, and others to build a maritime defense line to block the People's Liberation Army's crossing to the Taiwan Strait.

Every time Wu Shi received important military information, he would hand it over to the underground party in Taiwan as soon as possible and entrusted them to report to Beijing. In 1950, an underground party member named Cai Xiaoqian was exposed and was arrested by the enemy. He was an old Red Army soldier. He had eaten grass roots, tree bark, and slept in yellow mud. Logically speaking, his will should be very firm, but in fact, this person's mind had long been corrupted by material desires. When he was imprisoned, he wanted to eat steak. On the way to take him to a Western restaurant, he took the opportunity to escape and wandered to a village to lurk to avoid disaster.

A week later, Cai Xiaoqian couldn't stand the simple food in the countryside. He was eager to eat steak to satisfy his craving, so he changed into a suit and dressed up carefully to the restaurant in the city. Before he could order food, the spy pressed his pistol against his head. Cai Xiaoqian knew that there was no way out to escape. If he didn't speak, he might be killed. In order to survive, he betrayed more than 1,800 comrades, including Wu Shi.

In March of that year, the military commander arrested Wu Shi and many officers and soldiers close to him. In June of that year, the Taiwan court sentenced him to death at the instruction of Chiang Kai-shek. The judge asked him if he had any last words. He raised his head, shook his head firmly, and then recited a desperate poem. In fact, as early as when he was imprisoned, he had already written a suicide note on the back of a book. In addition to expressing love for his family, he was eagerly looking forward to the unification of the two sides of the Taiwan Strait. On June 10, he was executed at the age of 56.

In fact, early 1950 was the best time to liberate Taiwan. At that time, the United States had announced that it would not interfere in the dispute between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, and withdrew the warship and troops. There were many comrades on the treasure island, including Wu Shi, as internal responses. We can be said to have the best of time and place. Unfortunately, Cai Xiaoqian's rebellion caused almost to destroy Taiwan's underground party organizations, and the outbreak of the Korean War caused the United States to re-drive the fleet into the Taiwan Strait, and the people's regime lost its strategic opportunity. It is worth mentioning that Wu Shi's remains were later moved to the mainland, which can be regarded as falling leaves returning to their roots.
