Zhu Wuhua 〈1902-1998), also known as Pei Wei, is from Shaoxing , born in Shaobo Town, Jiangdu, is a wireless electronics scientist and an expert in water sound engineering.
Zhu Wuhua entered a private school when he was five years old, and in 1909 he transferred to Yangzhou to study. According to Comrade Jiang Zemin's later recollection, he often visited Zhu's family during his student days, and "Zhu Wuhua's spirit of never learning and thirsty for knowledge" became a role model for his life to imitate. Because Zhu Wuhua is talented and loves to study, he was admitted to Nanjing Higher Normal University and Shanghai Jiaotong University after graduating from middle school in 1919. At that time, his father advocated going to normal school for family life, but his brother Zhu Ziqing believed that interest was the driving force for learning and expressed his willingness to support his younger brother. In this way, Zhu Wuhua entered the Department of Electrical Engineering of Shanghai Jiaotong University to study.
1923, after Zhu Wuhua graduated from University, he continued to study at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Electrical Technology in the United States, obtained a master's degree, and in 1926 he received a doctorate degree from Harvard. His graduation thesis was a topic that was extremely difficult to solve in the field of electronics at that time, and thus attracted the attention of the science and technology circles of the United States and Japan. Since then, he has visited European countries for study and visits, greatly broadening his horizons.
1927, he returned to China with an urgent desire to serve his motherland. He was hired at Sun Yat-sen University in Guangsha and served as a professor in the Department of Physics. After that, he moved to Tangshan Jiaotong University and Peking University .
In Peking University , he was the first to compile textbooks for my country's electronic disciplines. Starting from focusing on cultivating students' theoretical and scientific research abilities, there are also several exercise questions. It is precisely because of the efforts of colleagues from a country, including Zhu Wuhua, that the Department of Physics of Peking University has become an important force in the research of physics in my country before , the Anti-Japanese War, and .
After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, he followed the school to teach at Southwest Associated University . After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, he still returned to Shanghai Jiaotong University. After the liberation of
, he served as the provost and vice president of Harbin Institute of Technology, and participated in the National Scientific Vision Planning Conference in the 12th Year (1956-1967). Later, he visited the Soviet Union and Eastern European Socialist countries. In 1961, Zhu Wuhua returned to his alma mater, Shanghai Jiaotong University, as vice president, and also served as the head of the Electronics Group of the National Science and Technology Commission.
Mr. Zhu Wuhua joined 952 and was elected as an academician of (member of the academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences) in 1955. He has been engaged in education and talent training for 68 years, and has taught 21 subjects such as radio principles, television, and information theory. He attaches great importance to the research of basic theory and practice, and pays great attention to new technologies. He pioneered the compilation of textbooks such as "Telecom Network", "Radio Principles", "TV Science", "Power Transmission", "Power System Automation", "Electrical Automation", "Automatic Frequency Adjustment in Power Systems", "Information Theory", "Principles of Water Acoustic Engineering and Acoustic Holographic Technology Wood", etc., not only became the founder of my country's electronic discipline, but also cultivated a large number of cutting-edge scientific and technological talents for the motherland.
What is particularly commendable is that on June 19, 1954, the first submarine force in my country's history was established in Qingdao . However, due to the inability to solve the noise problem, our country's submarine is easily discovered by the enemy. In order to ensure national defense needs, Mr. Zhu Wuhua resolutely started a new job when he was nearly 60 years old in 1963 and shifted his focus to the research of water sound engineering. He not only offered new courses for students entering professional courses, quickly cultivated and established a teaching staff, but also accelerated the construction of the Water Sound Engineering Laboratory and undertaken national key engineering projects in this area since 1965. After three years of hard work, he finally passed the offshore experiment and won the gold medal at the first National Science Conference in 1978.
In 1980, Mr. Zhu Wuhua resigned from his position as principal and served as a school consultant. However, it is still to continue to stand on the front line of teaching and teach graduate students. In my spare time, I translated and compiled more than 300 papers of various types. Later, the school considered that he was old and equipped him with a special car. But he refused.Once, he couldn't resist everyone. When he got off work, he was forced into the car by students and colleagues. After the car drove to his door, he did an unexpected surprise: Mr. Zhu Wuhua got off the car and walked to the school immediately, and then walked home from the school. He is using his actions to show everyone that I am in good health and I don’t have to ride a car at all.
Mr. Zhu Wuhua's 90th anniversary was on his birth and his 65th anniversary in his teaching, the State Education Commission praised him for his "rigorous academic research, hard work, and worthy of being a teacher of a generation", and Comrade Jiang Zemin also sent a congratulatory message. Mr. Zhu Wuhua's students, 25 experts and professors working in Beijing and other places, jointly sent a chant to celebrate his teacher: "The old trees and flowers bloom in the deep spring, and the masters are rare in the world.
