Yu Huiyong was born in the countryside of Rushan County, Shandong Province. He has loved local folk songs, Yangge , big drums and Peking opera since childhood. After Yu Huiyong graduated from elementary school, he returned to his hometown as a primary school teacher for 4 years. The specific subjects he taught is no longer possible. In September 1946, Yu Huiyong pulled his widowed mother with one hand and walked nearly 200 kilometers to Laiyang . With his skill in painting and erhu playing, he successfully convinced the Jiaodong Art Troupe and became a member of the revolutionary team. After entering the art troupe, Yu Huiyong felt like he had found a home, like a fish in water. He is ungrateful and sloppy, but he has a very high artistic talent. He can draw posters, brush slogans, accompaniment of various instruments, hang up the air lamp, make up, play the local stage, perform Peking Opera , perform newspaper dramas, perform operas and other skills. He is an all-round talent with screenwriter, director, composer, actor and other identities.
In 1950, Yu Huiyong graduated from Shanghai Conservatory of Music 4 with excellent results and stayed in the music troupe on campus. Two years later, he was assigned to the National Music Research Office to conduct full-time teaching and research. During his time at school, he felt that he had some shortcomings, so he independently and systematically learned various composition skills. In the 1950s and 1960s, some of his musical publications and songs were well received by professionals and widely spread.
In June 1965, Jiang Qing suddenly asked Zhang Chunqiao: "Who is Yu Huiyong?" Yu Huiyong has a unique view on modern Peking Opera opera. He wrote an article in " Wenhuibao ". Jiang Qing left a very deep impression after reading it. Later, Jiang Qing summoned Yu Huiyong and was very enthusiastic as soon as he met. He held his hand on his own initiative and said happily: "Ah, I have read your article. It should be said that we have known each other for a long time. Your article is well written and our ideas are consistent."
When he learned that Yu Huiyong was from Shandong, Jiang Qing became even happier and got to the relationship between a fellow villager. From then on, Jiang Qing would summon Yu Huiyong to talk whenever he arrived in Shanghai. In early 1966, due to excessive fatigue, his throat lost, Jiang Qing also specially sent him two bottles of special nutritional tablets. Yu Huiyong was flattered by the "first lady"'s respect and care.
The political atmosphere was getting stronger and stronger at that time, and Yu Huiyong was confiscated and criticized. Just as the situation escalated and made him desperate, Jiang Qing pulled him and took him from the mud to the clouds. Yu Huiyong was grateful to Jiang Qing, so under the instigation of Zhang Chunqiao, he also rose up to "rebellion" and was willing to be a pawn and shield for Jiang Qing to help him revise and promote model operas, and waving the flag and shouting for the literary and artistic revolution.
During this period, Yu Huiyong gradually felt the moody in Jiang Qing's temper and was tortured. However, with Jiang Qing's support, he reached a peak of power that did not belong to him - the Minister of Culture. However, the good times did not last long. In mid-October 1976, Yu Huiyong, who had been Minister of Culture for one and a half years, was quarantined for investigation.
What happened in the past decade gave Yu Huiyong a dreamlike feeling: an ordinary teacher who was determined to be a scholar and composer, was in a high position like a rocket, and finally got sent to jail. Yu Huiyong couldn't accept it, so on the evening of August 28, 1977, Yu Huiyong, who was under quarantine, raised the enamel cup in front of him - filled with corrosive agent to wash the toilet, and drank it in one go. Three days later, Yu Huiyong passed away in a coma.
