Lao Tan wrote the day before yesterday, "Who is more knowledgeable than Chairman Mao and Zhang Guotao? Chairman Mao said: I think it is Zhang Guotao's great knowledge." The article said that on March 23, 1937, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China held an enlarged meeting of the Politburo in Yan'an to criticize Zhang Guotao's separatism. The struggle to liquidate Zhang Guotao's route began on this day.

Originally, Chairman Mao had already said, "Zhang Guotao's mistake belonged to him alone. Zhang Guotao's mistakes cannot be expanded to the cadres and soldiers of the Fourth Front Army."

However, some cadres of the Fourth Front Army still suffered varying degrees of impact.

Among them, Xu Shiyou, because he did not agree to the withdrawal of the Fourth Front Army to Sichuan and Shaanxi, was called "escapist" by angry people as "Zhang Guotao's disciples" and "bandits of the Dabie Mountains"...

In anger, Xu Shiyou planned a so-called "gun towed" incident later.

The incident was as follows: At that time, in order to avoid accidents, the public security department in Yan'an reported to the central government and required the unified management of guns of soldiers in the Yan'an area.

centrally approved this report.

The Red Fourth Front Army of the Anti-Japanese University believes that this is targeting them and has a lot of opinions.

Xu Shiyou privately said to his old comrades Zhan Caifang, Wang Jian'an, Wu Shi'an and others: "We use guns to conquer the world for the poor. When the gun is confiscated, they are held in the palm of their hands. How can we live in the future? People say we are 'escapism', so we just run away to them and show them, and change places and still do the revolution!"

His words moved Zhan Caifang and others.

But, "change a place", which place to change?

Xu Shiyou said confidently: "Go back to Daba Mountain to find Liu Zicai! There are more than 10,000 people in Liu Zicai. We go to find them, but they can't ask for it."

Under the instigation of Xu Shiyou, there were 5 military cadres, 6 division cadres, more than 20 regiment cadres, and 2 battalion cadres, who were willing to go with Xu Shiyou.

However, the operation has not been carried out yet. Among them, Wang Jianan realized the serious error of this matter and reported it to the Security Director of the Anti-Japanese University, and then the Security Department reported it to the Political Department of the Anti-Japanese University, and thus reflected it to Chairman Mao through Mo Wenhua and Lin Biao.

Chairman Mao handled this matter very calmly and rationally, and educated and protected Xu Shiyou, Zhan Caifang and others.

Xu Shiyou, Zhan Caifang and others later became the founding generals of the New China.

Let’s talk about it, what happened to Liu Zicai, who Xu Shiyou and the others, afterwards? Where has he gone?

This article will talk about this character that has been ignored by many historical books.

Liu Zicai was from Lu'an, Anhui Province. In 1929, he participated in the Liu (An) Huo (Shan) Uprising initiated by Shu Chuanxian, Secretary of the Lu'an Central County Party Committee of the Communist Party of China. Later, he followed the Red 73rd Division to the Hubei-Henan-Anhui Revolutionary Base Area, and served as the commander of the 36th Regiment of the 12th Division of the Red 4th Army in the Red 4th Front Army.

We all know that after the Long March of the Central Red Army, some Red Army and guerrilla armed forces stayed in the Soviet area to carry out guerrilla warfare on the spot, and were called the "Red Army Southern Guerrillas."

Southern Red Army guerrillas persisted in the guerrilla warfare for three years in the eight southern provinces. They were later adapted into the New Fourth Army and became an important armed force in the Anti-Japanese War.

Let’s talk about it, after crushing the “six-way siege” of Sichuan enemy, the Fourth Red Army received a telegram from the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on January 22, 1935, demanding that it cross the Jialing River in the west to "cooperate with the Central Red Army to achieve its strategic plan of transferring to western Sichuan."

Just at this time, the Red 25th Army led by Xu Haidong entered the Zhen'an area of Shaanxi and was chased by heavy troops from the enemy.

The Fourth Red Front Army then decided to send troops to southern Shaanxi to support the Central Red Army and the Red 25th Army.

The General Political Commissar of the Red Fourth Front Army Chen Changhao formed a guerrilla team in Wangcangba, Wangcang County, Sichuan Province on February 1, 1935, called the Bashan guerrilla team, and Liu Zicai, former secretary of the Suiding Road Committee, was appointed as the commander, and they were asked to stay in the Sichuan-Shaanxi Soviet Area.

On April 21, 1935, the Fourth Front Army successfully crossed the Jialing River and withdrew from the Sichuan-Shaanxi Soviet Area.

Bashan guerrillas stood between northern Sichuan and southern Shaanxi, and developed in depth to southern Shaanxi. In the next year, they grew to more than 1,200 people.

Lao Tan will explain here that Xu Shiyou planned to "escape with a gun" in April 1937. At that time, he told Zhan Caifang, Wang Jian'an, Wu Shi'an and others that "there are more than 10,000 people in Liu Zicai's place." Obviously, the news he got was wrong.

The strongest time of the Bashan guerrillas was in August and September 1937. At that time, the team not only gathered the Red Army who were left behind for some reason, due to illness and injury during the Long March, but also gathered the people who returned from the Western Red Army who were dispersed by the Ma family army in Gansu. Of course, what is most commendable is that they have also added a spy company of the 36th Regiment of the 12th Division of the Red Fourth Army, with a total number of more than 1,500 people.

But these more than 1,500 people are still too far from what Xu Shiyou said about "more than 10,000 people".

and, in May 1936, Liu Zicai failed to correctly treat the secret service company of the 36th Regiment of the 12th Division of the Red Fourth Army with his command errors, was dismissed as a cook.

In other words, when Xu Shiyou and others were preparing to join Liu Zicai, Liu Zicai was just a cook in the Bashan guerrillas.

The commander of the Bashan guerrillas at that time had been changed to Zhao Mingen, the former propaganda minister of the Suiding Road Committee. The Bashan guerrillas were therefore affectionately called "Zhao Mingen guerrillas" by the local people.

Zhao Mingen led this guerrilla team to fight for five years of arduous struggle and battle, and failed in the spring of 1940.

After the armed struggle of the Bashan guerrillas failed. Zhao Mingen planned to go to Bazhong to regain revolutionary forces and carry out revolutionary struggles. However, Yang Zhifang, a member who followed him all the way, was pessimistic and disappointed with the future of the revolution. On March 15, 1940, he killed Zhao Mingen who was sleeping in Zhucaogou, Zhongba.

Liu Zicai is also an unyielding steel soldier. After the guerrillas were dispersed by the enemy, he wandered to Mian County, and then moved to Shibalipu, Hanzhong. He used helping people to play cotton as a cover to actively contact the guerrillas who were dispersed for the enemy and prepared to rebuild the Bashan guerrillas.

But in October 1940, he was discovered by the traitor Guan Yeyuan, unfortunately arrested, and died heroically in Nanjiang County.
