Four years later, in 1688, in the 27th year of Kangxi, the censor impeached Jin Fu and Chen Huang for failing to control the river and invaded the land of the people. Jin Fu was dismissed and arrested. Chen Huang died of illness before he was imprisoned.
Although Jin Fu was re-activated as the governor of the river four years later, he died soon after. Jin Fu and Chen Huang's strategy of river management was adopted by river governors of all generations. Although their late years were miserable, their determination to protect the people and the country and their achievements in river management remained in history.
