Because Zuoshan Diao's parents died one after another when he was very young. In order to survive, he came to work in the Northeast when he was young. At the beginning, Zuoshan Diao made a living by selling hard work, but no matter how hard he paid, he still couldn't eat enough or wear warmth, and he was often plotted by others and even bullied.

Finally, he cooperated with the bandit suppression troops outside, captured Zuoshan Diao alive, and detained him in Mudanjiang Detention Center.
However, there have been many different opinions on the cause of Zuoshan Diao's death. And it was not until 2014 that a 99-year-old Red Army soldier told the truth. Because this old Red Army was the one who tried Zuoshan Diao back then, he made it clear that Zuoshan Diao died of illness in prison.
