I first thought of my commander Founding General Xu Shiyou, who is from Xinxian. In 2014, my colleagues and I held a meeting in Xinxian County to visit the History Museum of the Old Revolutionary District. I made a special trip to the cemetery of the old commander General Xu Shiyou to mourn. The cemetery is located in the old leader’s hometown, very simple. In addition to salute, it is still a salute!
The reason why General Xu Shiyou is called my commander is because of the self-defense counterattack against Vietnam in 1979; I went south with the 162nd Division of the 54th Army to fight abroad, and was under the command of Guangzhou Military Region . At that time, the commander of the Guangzhou Military Region was General Xu Shiyou. In the battle against Vietnam, the Guangzhou Military Region was divided into the South Group and the North Group; I remember that our 162nd Division was the South Group and was commanded by General Wu Zhong, deputy commander of the Guangzhou Military Region; I also knew that the North Group was commanded by General Ou Zhifu, deputy commander of the Guangzhou Military Region!
162 Division won five battles and five victories, east and west, deep and 80 kilometers behind the enemy. It took a battle between four or five hundred kilometers, annihilated about 2,070 enemies and captured about 70 prisoners. He was praised by General Xu Shiyou and was awarded the "Third Class Collective Merit" by the 162nd Division by the Central Military Commission! xinxian is an old revolutionary base. The reason why I have a certain deep impression ofxinxian is that my former unit before retirement had been supporting xinxian for many years.
