This is a lonely old factory building. In front of him is the Han River that flows day and night; behind him are the buildings that have just been built; his left arm is pulling the Beijing-Guangzhou Line Han River Railway Bridge; his right hand is pointing to the century-old Zongguan old water plant.

This is a centenarian old man. The broken walls and overgrown vegetation seemed to be a bit dejected between the eyebrows. But the reinforced concrete and fire-heated red bricks still reveal his toughness.

When I walked into this house, I immediately felt that the space was tall and bright, and the beams and columns were thick and strong, showing the magnanimity of the builders in the design and construction. The empty hall no longer has any hustle and bustle, and dust and debris have become the current residents. However, the production specifications and floor numbers clearly visible on the white walls still remind him of his past.

Climbing up the stairs in the tower, the long steps make people a little breathless. After visiting the building floor by floor, we arrived at the top floor of the fifth floor, where we saw that the roof had been damaged for unknown reasons. Moss grew into the room along with the rainwater, and the damaged ceiling collapsed to the ground, which made people sigh.

overlooking the Han River from the rooftop, you can have a panoramic view of the scenery on both sides of the strait. Between the sparkling waves, you can seem to see the working scene of the special dock on the river in those days: the golden wheat was sent directly to the workshop through the pipeline, and bags of snowflake-white flour were hoisted. Between 1918 and 1922, brothers Rong Desheng (father of Mr. Rong Yiren) and Rong Zongjing established Shenxin No.4 Spinning Mill and Fuxin No.5 Flour Mill in Hankou, which were later handed over to Rong Desheng's son-in-law. Mr. Li Guowei (brother-in-law of Mr. Rong Yiren) is in charge. In 1938, as the Japanese army approached Wuhan, all the "Shensifuwu" equipment was moved to Chongqing and other places, preserving the blood of the national industry and becoming an important material supply base for the rear of the Anti-Japanese War. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, "Shen Sifu Wu" moved back to Wuhan. In the 1950s, Mr. Li Guowei responded to the call and took the lead in incorporating the "Shensi Fuwu" into a public-private partnership. To this day, Qiaokou still retains the place name Shenxin Street to commemorate the glory and dream of Wuhan's national industry. Mr. Li Guowei was a member of the Central Committee of the China Democratic National Construction Association and a standing committee member of the Wuhan Civilian Construction Association. He died of illness in Beijing on October 1, 1978 at the age of 85.

In 2016, the descendants of Mr. Li Guowei’s grandchildren and the descendants of some of the senior executives of the two factories made a special trip back to this old site from abroad. During their visit, they donated many precious historical archives of the “Four Blessings and Fives” campaign. These original texts, vouchers and materials serve as footnotes to Wuhan's modern industrial development, retaining precious urban memories. Nowadays, the former site of Fuxin No. 5 Flour Mill has been included in the Wuhan Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Unit, and the roar of machines and the noise of people in the past have ceased.

According to historical records of Wuhan Democratic National Construction Association, in February 1949, Mr. Hua Yuqing, then deputy manager of Hankou Shenfuxin Company, joined the Democratic National Construction Association. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he served as member of the Standing Committee of the 1st to 4th Central Committee of the Democratic National Construction Association and the first chairman of the Hubei Provincial Committee. On the eve of the liberation of Wuhan, he took the lead in establishing the Wuhan Democratic Construction Underground Group. Under the direct leadership of the Wuhan Underground Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Shenfu New Company in Hankou was used as the venue to carry out various progressive activities in the form of "Xingliu Dinner Party" to contribute to the liberation of Wuhan. A lot of fruitful work has been done. At that time, there were two main meeting places for this group. One was the headquarters office building of Shenfuxin Company that was located at the Qingdao intersection of Yanjiang Avenue in Hankou, and the other was the factory of the original "Shensifuwu".

Therefore, this old building is the starting point for the Wuhan Democratic Construction Organization, and the original intention of the Democratic Construction Workers to "unswervingly follow the party" is engraved here.

The efforts and struggles of the people of Wuhan Democratic Construction Association are more than just applying for the Four Blessings and Fives? During the more than 70 years of standing with the Communist Party of China through thick and thin, the Wuhan Democratic National Construction Association people have adhered to their original aspirations, taken the Party as their teacher, and performed their duties with all their strength, making many remarkable achievements in the history of China's united front. As one of the earliest cities in the country to establish democratic construction organizations, Wuhan Democratic Construction Group protected industrial and commercial assets on the eve of liberation, guided the People's Liberation Army into the city, supported public-private partnerships in the early days of the founding of New China, donated aircraft to the to resist U.S. aggression and aid Korea, and put forward famous proposals during the reform and opening up period. The "Two Communications Take-off" and the inclusion of the multi-party cooperation system in the Constitution are among the suggestions. After entering the new era, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, the Wuhan Democratic National Construction Association jointly fought against the epidemic, fought floods, alleviated poverty, built green waters and green mountains, and carried out democratic supervision, contributing its due strength. The achievement of all these achievements demonstrates the deep friendship between the Communist Party of China and the Democratic National Construction Association as one family.

At present, organizations at all levels of the Democratic National Construction Association are carrying out political handover themed education on "unswervingly following the party and working together to advance into the new era". The style and deep feelings with the Communist Party of China are passed down, and the political essence of uniting and working together with the Communist Party of China is always maintained.
