Soon after, Liu Junxiu was appointed as a member of the Jiangxi Provincial Revolutionary Committee, a member of the Standing Committee, and deputy leader of the Provincial Revolutionary Committee's Internal Affairs Group, in charge of the work of veteran cadres.
Liu Junxiu never cares about his position or personal gains and losses when doing his work. He has always been single-minded. Do your job well in a down-to-earth manner. When he was in charge of the work of veteran cadres, Liu Junxiu learned that many veteran cadres were difficult to solve the problem of using vehicles for medical treatment due to their old age and frailty. In July 1973, some areas in Jiangxi Province were hit by catastrophic floods. The water level of the Yangtze River far exceeded the warning line, seriously threatening the safety of Jiujiangurban area. Due to the backflow of the Yangtze River into Poyang Lake, the water in the Gan River cannot be released in time. The water level of the riverside avenue in Nanchang City is more than one meter above the ground, and the city protection dike has been in danger several times.
Under such circumstances, Liu Junxiu, as the commander-in-chief of provincial flood control, went to the front line of flood fighting and rescue operations. He adopted the method of both storage and discharge and mobilized all manpower and material resources into the flood fighting and rescue struggle. After more than half a month of hard work, the military and civilians of the province finally defeated the floods, ensuring the safety of Jiujiang and Nanchang, and creating conditions for an overall bumper agricultural harvest.
After the Third Plenary Session of the 11th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the focus of the entire party's work has begun to shift to the construction of socialist modernization. Although Liu Junxiu was 76 years old at this time, he still worked tirelessly on the front line of production with full enthusiasm for work.He went deep into grassroots inspection work and left his footprints in almost all parts of the province. It can be said that Liu Junxiu made a huge contribution to the revitalization of Jiangxi's rural economic development.
In August 1979, Liu Junxiu was appointed Secretary of the Jiangxi Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, and was later elected as the first deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress. Although his job has changed and he is no longer in charge of agriculture, he is still concerned about the reform of the province's rural economic system and fully supports the implementation of the household contract responsibility system with household production as the main form.

On August 8, 1985, Comrade Liu Junxiu died of illness in Nanchang City at the age of 81! Throughout Comrade Liu Junxiu's life, he valued the cause of the party and the interests of the people above all else, and devoted his entire life to the cause of the party and the people!
