Zheng Dongguo is a native of Shimen, Hunan. He was born in 1903 and graduated from the first class of Huangpu Military Academy. In the early days of his military career, Zheng Dongguo participated in two Eastern Expeditions, the Northern Expedition, and the Warlord War in the Central Plains. He became the regiment leader at the age of 24. After the "September 18 Incident", Zheng Dongguo participated in the Anti-Japanese War at Gubeikou of the Great Wall and was one of the first Kuomintang generals to join the Anti-Japanese War.
One of the most interesting things about Zheng Dongguo when he was young was that he was the only student in the first phase of Huangpu who was admitted to the Whampoa Military Academy by "imposter".

It turned out that Zheng Dongguo rushed to Guangzhou to register after receiving the news about the enrollment of Huangpu Military Academy, but it was still too late. The registration period for the first phase of Huangpu Military Academy had already passed.
Zheng Dongguo's situation is not good. If he misses the first phase of Huangpu, he will have no money to stay in Guangzhou. Now it is terrifying that Zheng Dongguo is in a hurry.
Zheng Dongguo lived in the Hunan Guild Hall at that time. There were many young people in the hall who came specifically to apply for the Whampoa Military Academy. One of the fellows told Zheng Dongguo that he was afraid of failing the exam when he applied, so he applied twice. Unexpectedly, I passed the exam the first time, so I still have one registration left. The current plan is that Zheng Dongguo can pretend to be himself and take the Huangpu Phase I exam.

There is only one disadvantage. Both Zheng Dongguo and Huang Ao were included in the second team of Huangpu students. Every time the roll call was called, the real and fake Huang Ao answered "yes" at the same time, which became a scene in the school.
After a few days of thinking, Zheng Dongguo found the teacher who voluntarily admitted his act of impersonating Huang Ao. The teachers at Whampoa Military Academy also understood Zheng Dongguo's actions and asked him to change his name back without pursuing further.
During the Anti-Japanese War, General Zheng Dongguo could be said to have refused to fight without mercy.
He successively participated in the Battle of Baoding, the Great Victory of Taierzhuang, the Battle of Wuhan, the Great Victory of Kunlun Pass, the Battle of Western Hubei, the Second Battle of Changsha, and the Battle of Burma.
During the War of Liberation, Zheng Dongguo was trapped in Changchun. He felt that surrender was unpleasant and insisted on "surrendering." In order to peacefully liberate Changchun, the People's Liberation Army also agreed to General Zheng Dongguo's request. In this way, in October 1948, General Zheng Dongguo announced in Changchun Surrendered and Changchun was peacefully liberated.
After the founding of New China, Zheng Dongguo successively served as counselor of the Ministry of Water Resources, member of the National Defense Commission, member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, member of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, vice chairman of the Central Committee of the Kuomintang, and vice president of the Huangpu Alumni Association. Members of the Standing Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference are at the ministerial level. In other words, General Zheng Dongguo became one of the few Kuomintang generals to hold ministerial-level positions after the founding of New China.

Although Zheng Dongguo and Chen Bilian have never had children, Chen Bilian has always regarded Zheng Dongguo's two sons, Zheng Anfei and Zheng Anteng, as her own, and brothers Zheng Anfei and Zheng Anteng also regard Chen Bilian as their mother.

After the divorce, Zheng Dongguo was in a very low mood. Later, through a friend's introduction, he met his third wife, Gu Xianjuan, in Beijing. More than a year after their marriage, Gu Xianjuan gave birth to a daughter named Zheng Anyu.

1977 , Zheng Dongguo's favorite daughter Zheng Anyu was brutally murdered by a young man in the factory who failed to woo her. She was only 21 years old when she was killed. This blow made Zheng Dongguo fall ill, and it took him a long time to recover.
On January 27, 1991, Zheng Dongguo died of illness in Beijing. Before he died, he told his family: "I am a soldier and I take life and death very lightly. Don't feel sorry for me and live a good life."

Zheng Dongguo had two sons, Zheng Anfei and Zheng Anteng.
Both of them were the children of Zheng Dongguo's first wife, Qin Wa'e.
In 1948, Zheng Anfei and Zheng Anteng were arranged by Chiang Kai-shek to study in Taiwan. This was not because Chiang Kai-shek wanted to control the hostages. At that time, Zheng Dongguo was trapped in Changchun. Chiang Kai-shek thought that Zheng Dongguo would definitely be defeated and committed suicide, so he specially allocated some money to send Zheng Dongguo to them. The two sons were sent to Taiwan to study. This was actually a reward from Chiang Kai-shek to Zheng Dongguo, who had "martyrdomed his country".
In October 1948, General Zheng Dongguo surrendered in Changchun; at that time, the Kuomintang claimed that Zheng Dongguo had "martyrdomed his country". Zheng Anfei and Zheng Anteng, who were studying in Taiwan at the time, must not be able to sit still. After the two younger brothers discussed it, the eldest son Zheng Anfei went to Changchun. "Converge" his father Zheng Dongguo, while his younger brother Zheng Anteng still stays in Taiwan to study hard.
But no one expected that this separation would become an eternal farewell.
When Zheng Anfei arrived in Changchun, he naturally knew that not only was his father not dead, but he also took the initiative to lead the army to surrender and became a hero of the revolution. So Zheng Anfei naturally chose to stay on the mainland and stay with his father; but from then on, Zheng Dongguo and Zheng Anfei and Zheng Anteng, who was alone in Taiwan, broke up. news.
After cross-strait exchanges resumed in the 1980s, Zheng Dongguo once asked people to go to Taiwan to search for Zheng Anteng, but he was never able to find Zheng Anteng. It means that after October 1948, the Zheng family and Zheng Anteng had no contact anymore.

Zheng Dongguo's eldest son Zheng Anfei has stayed in the mainland since he returned to the mainland from Taiwan in 1948.

Zheng Anfei’s eldest son Zheng Jianbang is a graduate of Northeast Normal University. In the early 1980s, he entered a university in Beijing to teach. After 1985, Zheng Jianbang successively served as a cadre, chief staff member, and deputy director of the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the Kuomintang. In 2000, the 43-year-old Zheng Jianbang served as director of the Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the Kuomintang Revolutionary Committee.
Beginning in 2018, Zheng Jianbang was elected as the Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference; he also served as the Executive Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Kuomintang and the Vice Chairman of the Soong Ching Ling Foundation . The vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference is at the deputy state level.
