The Pearl River Column: Born in this ancestral hall in Zhongshan, it led the anti-Japanese guerrilla war in the Pearl River Delta - DayDayNews

On October 21, 1938, after the Japanese invaded and occupied Guangzhou, they then aggressively attacked various parts of Guangdong, and most of the Pearl River Delta fell one after another. Under the leadership and call of the Communist Party of China, the Pearl River Delta region has successively established anti-Japanese armed forces such as the Second Guangyou Detachment, the Shunde Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Group, and the Zhongshan Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Group.

In order to facilitate the command of the troops operating in the Pearl River area, according to the instructions of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, in January 1945, the " Guangdong People’s Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Group Pearl River Column" (referred to as the "Pearl River Column") was set up in the ancient village of Binlangshan Village, Wuguishan, Zhongshan. The clan's ancestral hall was announced to have unified leadership and command of the anti-Japanese guerrilla war in the Pearl River Delta.

From small to large, from weak to strong, the Pearl River Column has gradually developed into an anti-Japanese force with more than 3,000 people, and has become an important force in the resistance against Japan in southern Guangdong. Geographically far away from the Party Central Committee, the Pearl River Column, lonely behind the enemy, was under the attack of the Japanese puppet army and the Kuomintang army. It successively established an anti-Japanese guerrilla with a population of 1 million and 3000 square kilometers in parts of 8 counties including Zhongshan and Shunde. The district effectively contained tens of thousands of Japanese and puppet forces, and achieved major victories in a series of battles such as the victory in the West Sea, the battle of Zhijizhuang, and the smashing of the "Ten Route Siege" of the Japanese and puppet forces.
