Hello everyone, I am Misha, a red bear. If you have friends who follow me in Somehu, you may see that my personal profile mentioned my experience on the privateer fleet:
Of course, the privateer fleet is actually a legal demilitarized organization established in accordance with the Starship Ordinance and licensed by the Empire, but generally speaking, privateer crews are still considered as pirates. As a Star Pirate, I certainly want to experience and give a sharp comment when I see a new game called "Star Pirates".
It can be said that in the use of these literary works, this originally brutal and perverted word gradually becomes gentle and neutral. And in this work, maauders finally return to their original meaning.
In the game, the players play a group of outlaws who fight on their own. In 1992, the first World War I , which lasted for decades, was not over, and humans hit space from the earth. Some people were tired of the endless wars that the Leviathans had launched for their interests and decided to fight for themselves, so they became plunderers. Players are alone, or form a team of up to four people, ride the "Scrap Iron" to mines, space stations, and prisons, trying every means to grab more resources - the premise is that you can bring them back alive.
Yes, in the game's own words, the game's mechanism is "Loot, Kill, Escape", that is, plunder, kill, and evacuate. In a simple analogy, it is the space version of "Escape Tucker": before entering a game, you must equip yourself with the equipment you want to carry; after entering the game, your goal is to rummage boxes and collect supplies in the map, and at the same time beware of AI and other players' teams, find ways to survive, and drive the spacecraft or take the escape capsule to evacuate from the star gate before the oxygen is exhausted in 25 minutes. Once you die halfway through, your equipment and the advanced ship you are driving will be gone.
Compared with Takov's original and some other hardcore shooting games, "Pirates" does not have so many realistic elements: you can change bullets as you like, you can recover blood from food and water, there is no distinction between different physical damage, etc. (It may also be that the EA stage has not been completed). But a more compact three-dimensional map means more head-on conflict and CQB combat. For players like me who have poor shooting skills, it means they are more likely to die.
Honestly, the various settings of the game are probably far from what is in reality. Pirates are an ancient business, and since the voyagers, there have been plunderers. This is not a completely glorious profession. Most pirates may just be some illiterate people at the bottom, but they are not fools. Few pirates choose to attack strongly guarded fortresses on the shore (or asteroids), and the lonely and unarmed merchant ships on the high seas (or in deep space) are our main targets of plunder. In the game, the raiders are just taking good commercial routes and picking hard bones to gnaw. It is really amateur.
Moreover, even if it plunders a small and completely unarmed merchant ship, it requires at least one entire tactical team to control it. After all, even a tank from the World War II period will be equipped with nearly ten members, not to mention a spaceship equipped with World War I technology. In the game, the scene of a lone hero driving a spaceship alone and then entering the space station alone is absolutely impossible to happen in reality. Admittedly, the game supports up to four-person teams, but so far, it does not have the function of matching teammates or teams of different numbers of people to match separately. In other words, the lone wolf player who is already worried enough to face AI is likely to encounter a reorganized four-person team. Unless your marksmanship is particularly hard, the gaming experience of Lone Wolf players will be greatly reduced most of the time.
Whether it is the most pirate game or as a space game, the air combat part should be the point that distinguishes it from other shooting games. But unfortunately, the air combat part of the game does not have any sense of existence: before entering the plundering target, you can compete with your peers in outer space first, but this kind of battle is really not very rewarding. Considering the background of the game, I did not expect to see common ship-based equipment such as phase gun , orbital gun , photon torpedo, partial guide shield, and stand guard. However, I did not expect that the default spacecraft in the game would only be equipped with a small-caliber main gun that looks useless. In addition to being able to fly, it is even lower than the combat capability of a tank. This also shows why, as a pirate, he had to go through the airlock honestly when invading the space station, after all, he really couldn't penetrate the shell.
The weak firepower of the carrier gun not only cannot penetrate space station , but even the small broken ships facing other players cannot cause effective damage. When you smash your enemy's vehicle, the enemy can even jump into your ship in an escape pod. On his ship, he had no tactical advantage, and he didn't even have a door bolt, so he could only rely on his body to shoot against the opponent's passion, which made it easy to win the artillery battle and lose the battle to catch the enemy, which was unavoidable.
However, the overall style creation and art portrayal of the game are still worthy of recognition. The game production team consisting of only a few people is from the UK. No wonder, let’s not talk about the British pirate tradition for the time being. From the SAS (Color Six players should know, the Special Air Service Group) camp to the Sden MK II, which is still used in the space age, the inheritance of the strong British flavor is reflected in all aspects of the game.
In addition to Sden, the guns in the game are mainly old antiques from the first half of the twentieth century, such as MP40, MAT-49, Ruger pistol . Combining the silly and sturdy pragmatic decorative style, rivet airtight doors and diesel engines, cathode ray screens and transistors and electronic computers, as well as the bleak incandescent lamps and lighting that is so dark that the enemy cannot be seen clearly, it jointly renders a distinctive diesel punk space era. Of course, professionals like me would never want to drive such a ship to the front line, but as a fantasy work, it is quite interesting.
Considering that the production team is limited and the game is still in development, I shouldn't seem to be so demanding about it. However, if sufficient improvements are not made, this work may be difficult to operate for a long time. How to improve the gaming experience of solo novice players should be the primary issue that the production team will consider in the future. In addition, whether plug-ins can be effectively controlled is also an important part. As for the others, it depends on what kind of answers they can give us before the official version is launched.
