Recently, Geoff Goodman, the lead hero designer of " Overwatch ", was interviewed and discussed the design concept of potential new heroes in the sequel.
While he didn't reveal specific new heroes that will be released later, he mentioned that the development team hopes to make more "mercy" type support characters. He said that according to the plan, "Overwatch: Return" will add a new character every other season.
According to Goodman, the development team believes the game needs more healing roles to allow players to choose between targeting enemies and healing teammates. He cited "Mercy" as an example. The development team did not agree that she was a low-operation hero. They believe that, unlike other MOBA games, the auxiliary role in Overwatch requires players to practice a lot in order to play its true role.
Ana, Zenyatta , and Baptiste all have gameplay elements focused on precision targeting, and adding more Mercy-like healing characters will help allow players to contribute to their team in more creative ways. A third new character is coming to Overwatch: Homecoming, according to the developer.
