At the time when Microsoft acquired Activision Blizzard , Microsoft obviously downplayed the past focus of XGP, cloud game . Of course, part of the reason is just to make the purchase of AB come under the supervision of the regulatory authorities, but it seems that Xbox's strategy has indeed changed.
According to wccftech, in a recent podcast interview, Xbox boss Phil Spencer gave an interesting answer when asked about the future of Microsoft's gaming department. Spencer said he wasn't more exposed to content like XGP, but focused on new hardware and new first-party games, and perhaps most importantly mobile games.
"In the long run, we are all involved. We are thinking about new hardware devices, new game styles, new collaborative peer relationships, new first-party content. We also spent a lot of time thinking about the mobile terminal and what we mean to mobile players, because we used to make little sense to mobile players."
