The American Communications Workers Union (CWA) filed unfair labor behavior on behalf of the ABK Workers Alliance against Activision Blizzard, a game developer of " Overwatch" and " Call of Duty " (COD).
CWA previously represented employees of Activision Blizzard King, most notably the union of its recently established subsidiary, Raven Software.
A week after employees of Blizzard Albany won the right to form a union, the company filed new charges.
In a previous article about Vicarious Visions, the media shared a statement from Lulu Cheng Meservey, chief communication officer of Activision Blizzard . The statement was posted on a read-only channel in Slack within the company, calling for "a direct dialogue between the company and its employees" while discouraging employees from forming a union. Moserway's anti-union sentiment angered employees, and the ABK Workers Alliance expressed disappointment at the inability to directly respond to Moserway's hypocrisy. When Moservey's internal statement was made public, she herself was still defending herself on Twitter.
American Labor Federation (CWA) announced yesterday that it has filed allegations of unfair labor conduct against Activision Blizzard in response to Moserway's statement. Moserway's statement advocates "simplifying the process" in collective bargaining. "Last week, Meservey sent a company-wide Slack message to discredit unions and threaten to refuse to raise wages and improve benefits to unionized employees, giving employees the impression that union-affiliated agencies and/or support is being monitored," said in a statement. "Handwich has several ongoing lawsuits, including complaints of sexual harassment, brought by individuals and larger agencies, such as California, and has widely criticized employees' attitudes and actions towards unions.
