The Institute of International Trade and Economic Cooperation of the Ministry of Commerce recently released the "China's "Belt and Road" Trade and Investment Development Report 2022" in Beijing. This is the fifth consecutive year that Ministry of Commerce Research Institute has released a series of reports since 2018.
In 2021, trade volume with countries along the route increased by 32.6% year-on-year
The report shows that in 2021, China's trade volume with countries along the "Belt and Road" hit a new high, reaching US$1.8 trillion, a year-on-year increase of 32.6%. ASEAN has become the region where China and countries jointly build the "Belt and Road" to carry out the most concentrated trade in goods. The total trade in goods between China and ASEAN reached US$878.21 billion, accounting for 48.9% of the total trade in goods with countries along the route and 34.8% of the total trade in goods between countries jointly built the "Belt and Road".

and 14 countries reached a consensus on third-party market cooperation
As of July 2022, China has signed more than 200 cooperation documents on jointly building the "Belt and Road" with 149 countries and 32 international organizations, covering the fields of connectivity, investment, trade, finance, science and technology, society, humanities, people's livelihood, oceans, e-commerce, etc., covering 27 European countries, 38 Asian countries, 52 African countries, 11 Oceania countries, 9 South American countries and 12 North American countries.
The report points out that China and countries jointly build the "Belt and Road" continue to enrich the content of cooperation and strengthen mechanism coordination and cooperation. As of the end of 2021, China has established a smooth trade working group with 17 countries, an investment cooperation working group with 46 countries and regions, a bilateral e-commerce cooperation mechanism with 23 countries, and a service trade cooperation mechanism with 14 countries.
Third-party market cooperation is being steadily promoted. In recent years, China has reached a consensus on third-party market cooperation with 14 countries including France, Italy, Japan, and the United Kingdom to build mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation for enterprises. In October 2021, China and Italy held the sixth meeting of the China-Italy Third-Party Market Cooperation Working Group, and reached an agreement on the list of key projects for the second round of cooperation between China-Italy third-party markets, including 14 projects in the fields of petroleum, chemical industry, finance, etc. In January 2022, China and the UK held the first meeting of the China-UK third-party market cooperation working group. The two sides had in-depth exchanges on the positive progress made since the establishment of the third-party market cooperation mechanism, demonstration projects, application of research projects, progress of mutual investment between China and the UK, Sino-UK railway cooperation, and the next cooperation plan.
Establish scientific and technological cooperation relations with 84 co-construction countries
The report believes that the "Belt and Road" initiative is people-oriented and aims to "high standards, sustainability, and benefit people's livelihood". As of November 2021, China has sent a total of 23,000 medical team members to Africa, treated 230 million patients, helped 18 African countries to establish 20 specialty centers, and established a counterpart cooperation mechanism with 45 African hospitals in 40 African countries. As of the end of 2021, China has established scientific and technological cooperation relations with 84 co-construction countries, supported 1,118 joint research projects, and launched the construction of 53 joint laboratories in the fields of agriculture, new energy, health and other health.
