Data from the "2021 Guangzhou Transportation Development Annual Report" show that the number of trips between Guangzhou and Foshan was 1.74 million, accounting for 26% of the total number of trips between cities in the Bay Area. Sanshui District is one of the areas closest to Guangzhou in Foshan and has become a "good home" for many " pendulum " people in Guangfo.
Sanshui has an efficient transportation network of Guangzhou-Foshan Urban Rail Link, "Five Horizontal and Two Vertical" expressway network, and Foshan Metro Line 4 (under construction). Xu Yongzhou joined a foreign-funded company in Guangzhou in 2013. When he was preparing to get married and buy a house, he bought his new house in Sanshui New Town. "My wife is from Sihui, Zhaoqing. Sanshui connects Guangzhou and Zhaoqing. It is more convenient for her to take care of her family and it is convenient for me to go to work." Xu Yongzhou still commutes between Guangzhou and Sanshui every day.

"It is very convenient to drive by yourself. You can get on the expressway in 5 minutes from the door and reach Taojin Road in Yuexiu District, Guangzhou in 30 minutes." Xu Yongzhou sets off at about 7:10 every morning, and the traffic on the road is relatively smooth. When he doesn't want to drive, Xu Yongzhou goes to the nearby Sanshui North Station and takes the earliest "Zhao-Foshan-Guangzhou-Shenzhen" intercity train. It takes about 30 minutes to arrive at Guangzhou Station , and then transfer to the subway to reach the company.
Xu Yongzhou is just one of the many "Guangmiao Pendulum Clan". In the past ten years, Sanshui's cross-city transportation network has become increasingly perfect, and the urban boundaries between Guangzhou and Sanshui have become increasingly blurred, making it increasingly convenient for citizens to live, work, and consume in the two places.
From a geographical point of view, Sanshui is 30 kilometers away from the central city of Foshan and 40 kilometers away from the central city of Guangzhou. It is the regional center of the Guangzhou-Foshan metropolitan area. Sanshui is connected to Guangzhou to the east, Zhaoqing and Yunfu to the west, and Qingyuan and Shaoguan to the north. In recent years, with the completion and opening of the Guangzhou-Foshan-Zhaoqing Expressway, the Foshan-Qingzhou Expressway, and the West-to-North Ring Section of the Foshan First Ring Road, the "five horizontal and two vertical" expressway network has opened up the arteries of the same city of "Guangmiao". All seven towns and streets in the region can "get on the expressway in 10 minutes" and reach Guangzhou in 30 to 40 minutes.

In addition, the "Zhao-Foshan-Guangzhou-Dongguan-Shenzhen" intercity train and the Guiyang-Guangzhou (Nan-Guangzhou) high-speed railway all pass through the main area of Sanshui. Sanshui can reach Shenzhen, Hong Kong, Macau and other core cities in 80 minutes. Because Sanshui is located in the center of the Guangzhou-Foshan-Zhaoqing Economic Circle, Sanshui has become a residential choice for many Zhaoqing citizens who want to commute to Guangzhou easily.
"Sanshui on the Rails" Refreshes Investment Value
In Sanshui, in addition to the cross-district commuters who "come home in the morning and return at night", many citizens also enjoy the convenience and fun of going to Guangzhou after get off work to "eat a meal and have a drink". Before 2012, the “Sanshui Area” was well known for its ecological value. Sanshui, as the country's first affluent and longevity town, is one of the few cities in the Pearl River Delta region that has both a developed industrial base and significant ecological advantages, attracting people who settled in Sanshui early on.
In the ten years since 2012, the “Sanshui Area” has demonstrated a new urban value. New urban areas such as Sanshui New City and Beijiang New District have opened up the urban skeleton and enriched the city's connotation with first-line high-quality public services; as a pilot project for the comprehensive reform of rural revitalization in the province, a number of beautiful and livable villages have been built.
With the favorable location and transportation, more and more people come here to enjoy the fireworks on earth, poetry and distant life. Data from the Foshan Municipal Bureau of Statistics show that Sanshui’s permanent population was 809,200 at the end of 2021, an increase of more than 186,000 in 11 years.

Rail transit is currently the most valuable mode of transportation in urban development. In 2014, the Guiyang-Guangzhou (Nan-Guang) high-speed railway was opened, and Sanshui became the first district in Foshan to be connected to the high-speed railway; in 2016, the Guangzhou-Foshan-Zhaozhou intercity rail was opened to traffic, and in 2021, the Foshan-Zhaozhou intercity and Suzhou-Shenzhen intercity intercity operations will run. Sanshui has "rail buses" that directly connect to Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan and other cities.
In March this year, the much-anticipated Sanshui section project of Foshan Metro Line 4 started, which will connect the central area of Chancheng , Nanhai Sanshan New City and Shishan group, and set up 5 stations in Sanshui. Line 4, which is under intensive construction, has shown a leading role. In the past two months, the commercial and residential land in Dalangshan TOD area has been auctioned, and the Exin Village reconstruction project has been approved. There is greater room for imagination for development along Line 4.

During the "14th Five-Year Plan", Sanshui will speed up the construction of "Sanshui on the track", build a modern transportation system of "seven railways, six verticals, eighteen horizontals and one ring", accelerate the layout of Sanshui South Station, Sanshui North Station and other 9 urban comprehensive transportation hubs, quickly integrate into surrounding cities, and make Sanshui a "golden location" in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
