On August 1, 2022, the first domestic regulation on the management of intelligent connected vehicles - the "Regulations on the Management of Intelligent Connected Vehicles in Shenzhen Special Economic Zone" (hereinafter referred to as the "Regulations") was officially implemented. For the first time in China, specific regulations were made on entry registration, driving on the road, etc. of intelligent connected vehicles, which will push Shenzhen's intelligent connected vehicle industry to a new level. Pingshan District is the "vanguard" of Shenzhen's pioneering demonstration of intelligent connected vehicles. It is the first administrative district in the city to propose full-region opening. This provides strong policy support for Pingshan District to take the lead in the city to realize demonstration applications of intelligent connected vehicles that can be fully-regionally, on-roadly, simplified, unmanned, and commercialized.
In addition, Shenzhen Pingshan District is also a national new energy (auto) industry base and has the only intelligent network transportation testing demonstration platform in Shenzhen. Up to now, the output value of key intelligent connected vehicles enterprises in Pingshan District, Shenzhen accounts for about 60% of the city, and a complete intelligent connected vehicles ecological industrial chain has been formed, which can significantly reduce the implementation cost of autonomous driving technology through industrial agglomeration.
It is worth mentioning that at this conference, Meituan Automatic Delivery reached a strategic industrial cooperation with Shenzhen Pingshan. Meituan Automatic Delivery will carry out pilot demonstrations based on the industrial development and urban life needs of Shenzhen Pingshan, and participate in the construction of Shenzhen Pingshan's "world-class intelligent connected vehicles' "City of the Future"".
It is understood that Meituan started the research and development of autonomous driving in 2016, took the lead in achieving normalized operation in urban outdoor scenarios across the country in February 2020, and launched normalized road tests for automatic delivery technology in Pingshan District, Shenzhen in May 2021. As of the end of October 2022, Meituan Automatic Delivery has conducted road testing in Pingshan, Shenzhen for more than 500 days, and is about to enter the stage of exploring the implementation of the automatic delivery service scenario in Pingshan, Shenzhen. As of August 2022, Meituan automatic delivery vehicle has achieved distribution services on public roads, communities and campuses in many cities across the country, with a total of more than 2.4 million orders, an average daily delivery of more than 5,000 orders, and the peak delivery period exceeded 20,000 orders, and the proportion of autonomous driving mileage exceeds 97%.
